What is connected to the bottom of explosive balloons fired by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.

Note the plastic explosive wrapped in plastic and attached to a detonator. A resident of the Eshkol Region opened his front door yesterday and found what you see in the photo. Police sappers were called into defuse the bomb.

The News on the Israel Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Aside from sending the explosive balloon to the Eshkol Region along the Gaza border, terrorists also attacked throughout Judea and Samaria at such places as Isaka, Al Aruv, and Rahalim.

22 terrorists were tracked down and captured in Judea and Samaria overnight.

The attack in Syria two nights ago . . .

According to a military insider, the attack was even more widespread than at first believed: “[It was a] major and super-significant attack … The whole supply chain of the Iranians and the Syrians to Hezbollah has been hit.”

There are other reports suggesting this morning that the Syrians are “demanding that the Iranians do something” in response.

Speaking of the Iranians . . .

As you undoubtedly know by now, the Iranians have blatantly declared that they have exceeded the 300 kg amount of refined uranium allowed under the Obama and Kerry Nuclear Appeasement Deal.

Their declaration yesterday was aimed at the Europeans from whom they are trying to extract more economic concessions.

Regular readers of israelstreet know that your humble servant has suspected for years that Iran already has a huge stockpile of enriched uranium which has undoubtedly been used to make at least rudimentary nuclear weapons.

Just yesterday, an Iranian parliamentarian warned that if Iran is attacked by anyone, Israel will disappear off the map in 15 minutes.

More Ethiopian Jews arrive in Israel . . .

But this time it was a small planeload of only 14 people. 7,500 living in extreme poverty remain in Ethiopia seeking official approval to come here in a process that has been slowed down by the ascertaining of this group’s religiosity (many are Jews who converted to Christianity and then returned to Judaism).

Ironically, the Ethiopian community in Israel took to the streets last night and again this morning protesting the death of a 19-year-old Israeli-Ethiopian at the hands of an off-duty policeman in Haifa. We will not report more about this until more information is available about what happened.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The IDF Spokesman: Vocabulary Primer 101

We have been struck in the last 24 hours about how the IDF spokesman is beginning to use the same obfuscatory terminology to describe fires started by explosive balloons as he uses to describe missile attacks on southern Israel.

Suddenly, we are being told that every fire is not really a fire started by an exploding balloon, but is a fire caused by some other factor. Of course, this is all part of the IDF strategy to support its case for making a “truce” with Hamas–a strategy which has to make Hamas look like the good guys.

In this vein, we offer an “IDF spokesman vocabulary primer today”. What follow are a few phrases and sentences we have heard in recent weeks to describe what is going on along the Gaza border and how they should be translated:

1. “The IDF will continue to operate and defend against those that undermine Israeli sovereignty while jeopardizing the safety and well being of civilians”: The IDF will do nothing.

2. “Dozens of balloons were launched from Gaza”: Hundreds of balloons were launched from Gaza.

3. “Despite the truce, some fires erupted from burning balloons”: Despite the truce, numerous fires erupted from burning balloons.

4. “A fire in the Sha’ar Hanegev region is believed to have been caused by a balloon-borne incendiary device”A fire in the Sha’ar Hanegev region was definitely caused by a balloon-borne incendiary device.

5. “An explosive balloon fired from Gaza exploded in the Eshkol Region. There are no casualties”: An explosive balloon fired from Gaza exploded in the Eshkol Region. No one was wounded from exploding shrapnel, but an untold number were traumatized and still more suffered respiratory problems from the resulting smoke.

6. “The IDF extended the fishing range from 10 to 15 km today”: The IDF extended the smuggling range from 10 to 15 km today.

And a few more from recent weeks:

7. “A siren was heard near Nahal Oz; it was a false alarm:” There was a missile attack at Nahal Oz.

8. “The Iron Dome has many successes but it is not hermetically sealed”: The Iron Dome is porous and cannot be counted on.

9. “The Israeli Air Force attacked a Hamas military compound in Gaza”: After warning Hamas in advance, the Israel Air Force attacked an empty building surrounded by an empty courtyard.

10. “The Israeli Air Force attacked Hamas positions near Zeitoun”: The Israeli Air Force attacked empty observation posts and sand dunes near Zeitoun.

11. “At this moment, we are attacking military targets of the two organizations”: At this moment we are attacking empty buildings and empty sand dunes.

12. “The IAF attacked a Hamas naval site in northern Gaza”: The IAF attacked empty fishing boats in northern Gaza.

In summary, whenever you read or listen to what the IDF spokesman says, you must take it with a large tablespoon of salt.
