The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza Border:

*Incoming missile sirens screamed throughout the Eshkol Region last night at 9:26 pm. Residents reported hearing 4 explosions, but IDF claimed that missiles fired from Gaza blew up shortly after launch, or hit “open areas.”

*More terrorists penetrated the border fence yesterday and then fled back into Gaza after destroying IDF equipment at an observation post.

*Meanwhile, during the last two days alone, more than 150 IEDs and grenades have been either thrown at our soldiers or planted along the fence and defused.

Think about all of this for a moment, dear reader.

150 IEDs and grenades, missile launches, infiltrations–and the IDF’s hands are tied by the Netanyahu government and the IDF General Command.

It is not only an extremely dangerous situation on the ground for our soldiers, but also an infuriating one for our commanders who what to proactively go after the terrorists.

On the Syrian border:

In the last few hours, missiles were launched out of Syria toward Israel.

According to the IDF, none of the missiles made it across the border into Israel.

Don’t say we didn’t tell you so . . .

Remember the story yesterday about the Palestinian dentist who stepped in to stop two Israelis from being stabbed to death? Your humble servant suggested that he would quickly be ostracized by Palestinian society.

Today come reports that Dr. Amin Mansour has been inundated with death threats.

Long In Coming And Excruciatingly Painful

Bassem Amin Muhammad Saih died yesterday at Assaf Harofeh Hospital. Saih died of terminal cancer.

Immediately Saih was glorified by the PLO and Hamas.

Hamas said that “a curse that would haunt the occupier in the West Bank and everywhere else in Palestine.”

Saeb Erekat of the PLO tweeted this:

“Palestine mourns the martyr in Bassem Saih, who died in Israeli prison. We see the Israeli government as fully responsible and call on the ICC to begin an immediate investigation.”

Yes, what a man was Bassem Saih.

Why was he in prison? He was convicted of two counts of murder on nationalistic grounds, weapons-related offenses, attempted murder, kidnapping, membership in a terrorist organization, and other offenses.

He was a terrorists’ terrorist.

About those two counts of murder . . .

It was back on a Thursday night in October 2015.

At around 9 pm, Naama Henkin and her husband Eitam were driving between Itamar and Elon Moreh along with their four children (aged 4 months, 4, 7, and 9) near the town of Beit Furik.

The “heroic” Bassem Saih and his fellow terrorists emerged from the side of the road and opened fire with automatic weapons through the front windshield of the van.

Rabbi Eitam somehow managed to get his car door open and died on road.

Riddled with bullets, Naama never made it out of her seat.

Both parents were gruesomely murdered in full view of their children who survived by huddling silently in the back seat.

By any description, it was a hideous crime.

We can only hope that Bassem Saih’s death was long in coming and excruciating painful.
