As you can see by comparing the ticker above with the daily Corona update below from last night, there has been an uptick of 423 confirmed cases of Corona in the last 24 hours, and another 4 Israelis have died. 108 Israelis are now in critical condition on respirators.

It now looks as if an agreement will be signed between Netanyahu and Gantz either tonight or tomorrow. Your humble servant hesitates to repeat the speculation swirling around the announcement, so . . . I won’t. Tomorrow’s blog will be devoted to that agreement, if it really takes place.

The daily Corona update . . .
As you can see above, there are now 7428 confirmed Corona cases in Israel, and the number of dead has increased to 40. Also extremely troubling is the fact that there are 96 people in “very difficult” situations.
If you compare the numbers from the last week, what you will see is that the number of confirmed cases continues to rise (it automatically rises because even those who have recovered are not removed from the number). However, the number seems to be a steady, not meteoric, increase.
That could change quickly of course when we get accurate numbers from Bnei Brak, Mea Shearim, and Modi’in Illit.
What’s more, believe it or not, a study of Israeli deaths from illness in the month of March for the last 7 years actually shows that this March had the fewest deaths.
The new political battle this morning . . .
. . . is not between Likud and Kahol Lavan. Instead it is between Likud and Yamina over the Education Ministry. After reports emerged last night that Likud was going to give the Education Ministry to Kahol Lavan thereby replacing Rabbi Peretz of the National Union Party (part of Yamina), Yamina served notice that it would drop out of the proposed emergency government coalition.
The new tune today has been that if Yamina will settle for one ministry, it can keep the Education Ministry. But Yamina is demanding 3.
Meanwhile, PM Netanyahu and Benny Gantz “met” at the Prime Minister’s residence this afternoon to try to overcome the obstacles in the way of their forming an emergency unity government.
“Met” is in quotation marks because the two men were in different rooms in order to maintain social distancing.
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

*Considering the fact that many of the roads are virtually empty due to government regulations, you might have thought that terror targeting Israeli motorists would have abated.
