*10 pm Monday: There are now 16,246 confirmed cases of Corona in Israel. 70 people are on ventilators. 235 Israelis have died. 10,064 have recovered.
*The government issued new guidelines this afternoon that significantly loosen the restrictions that were in place. These new guidelines are effective immediately.
To begin with, Israelis will no longer be restricted to within a certain distance of their homes.
Next, subject to those in charge of facilities monitoring social distancing parameters, the following will be opened: “libraries, all types of (non-medical) treatments in the human body, supplemental medicine, hotels and lodges (zimmers), nature reserves, heritage sites and national parks, zoos and safari, swimming pools for competitive athletes.”
Swimming pools for competitive athletes and therapeutic pools will also be opened.
Shopping malls, markets and gyms will be open as of Thursday, May 7, 2020.

A Huge Corona Breakthrough?

Your humble servant does not want to make too much of this yet, but what appears to be a major announcement was made today by Defense Minister Naftali Bennett and the head of the Biological Institute in Nes Ziona.
According to the announcement, scientists at the Institute have made a significant breakthrough in finding an antidote to the Corona virus. That breakthrough is the discovery of a specific antibody that attacks the virus uniquely and neutralizes it. According to the head of the Institute, the development phase of the antibody is over.
Defense Minister Naftali Bennett: “I am proud of the Biological Institute’s people who have made a huge breakthrough. The creativity and Jewish mind have brought this amazing achievement.”
