The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

Palestinian terrorists using “rocks” and Molotovs attacked Israelis at Marda, Ras Karkar, Halhul, Wadi Harmiya, the small Yakir Junction, Revava, the British Police Junction, Talmonim, Hizma, Al-Aruv, Gross Square in Hevron, Azzun, Luban A-Sharqiya, and throughout Gush Etzion.

According to the IDF, more than 100 terror incidents took place during the past week. Two children and a policeman were wounded, a stabbing attack was thwarted at the Ariel Junction, and numerous cars and buses were “damaged.” It is also estimated that dozens of incidents were unreported.

On the Gaza border:

Where incoming missile sirens sounded yesterday at 12:58 pm.

As you can see from the above graphic, Netiv HaAsara and Yad Mordechai were the two places targeted. As usual, the IDF spokesman was quick to label what happened a “false alarm” and then change that to “the missile probably fell on the Gaza side of the border fence” a few hours later. The missile or missiles will undoubtedly be found in some “open area” near one of the kibbutzim today.

It is just amazing how the IDF is so desperate to call everything emanating from Hamas terrorists “a false alarm”; the General Command will do anything to avoid having to respond.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Bahrain Joins The Peace Train

The flag of Bahrain.

The flag of Bahrain.

This is the statement issued by the United States, Israel, and Bahrain yesterday:

bahrain

As we all know, Bahrain was expected to join the peace train in short order after its close ally the United Arab Emirates. The larger hope is that what we will see is a growing momentum that will bring with it other Arab countries.

This is not to say that all are on board.

Yesterday, the Palestinians held a funeral for the Arab League which refused to condemn the UAE:

The ceremony was quite elaborate:

Instead of embracing peace, the Palestinians are once again missing an opportunity.

Your humble servant is still concerned about the implications of what is happening. Just yesterday there were reports of Emirati and Bahraini businessmen sweeping into Jerusalem and buying up what is for them, cheap apartments. Another report suggests that one of Israel’s iconic soccer teams, Beitar Jerusalem, will soon come under Emirati ownership. You may recall that upon first hearing about the UAE deal, we suggested that the Islamization of Jerusalem would be a possible outcome.

We will be thinking about all of this Tuesday at the signing ceremony on the White House lawn.
