Photos of the Night

A huge lightning strike just south of us in Sderot last night:

What was the result of all the lightning barrages last night?

My blacked-out neighborhood of Ashdod in the middle of last night.

My blacked-out neighborhood of Ashdod in the middle of last night.

Ashdod experienced one continuous thunderstorm from midnight until about 5 am this morning. Huge bolts of lightning and “thunderous” thunder kept us awake throughout the night.

As you can see from the photo above, our neighborhood was without electricity (except for a sliver of street leading up to a large lit sculpture in the upper left) off and on during the storm. Actually this was the 5th consecutive day that we have had power outages (some on warm, sunny afternoons).

The same blackouts have afflicted cities from Eilat to Dimona to Beersheva to Asheklon.

All of which leads to the question of what has happened to the power grid here? One rolling blackout after another makes us feel like we are living in a third world country.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

Palestinian terrorists attacked IDF forces with Molotovs and “rocks” at Al Aruv, the northern entrance to Qalqilya, Kfar Kedum, at the Khursa Triangle near Hevron, and at the Jalama Crossing near Jenin.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Jews attempting to pray at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli buses at Gurat A-Shima near Efrat, near Ofra on Road 60, and at Road 55 near Karnei Shomron.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli motorists with “rocks” and Molotovs between Anun and Kiryat Arba, between Yakir and Emanuel, at the Adam Junction, and at numerous other places.

On the Gaza border:

As they promised, Palestinian terrorists began launching explosive “balloons” into southern Israel. Here is a photo from yesterday at Sha’ar Hanagev; as you can see, the “balloons” are now carrying the equivalent of missiles:

Luckily, the cluster of ballons carrying this bomb landed in a tree in a forest.

There seems to be a new outbreak of Corona now taking place in eastern Jerusalem caused by refusal of Arabs to adhere to restrictions regarding mass events such as weddings and by Arabs returning from vacations in Turkey. Yesterday alone 76% of the people who were tested were positive for Corona; half of all returnees from Turkey are testing positive.

Who knows what came over the Israel Supreme Court which allowed the destruction of this terrorist’s entire home? Recently they have not even permitted the sealing of one room in terrorists’ homes.

Sivan Ohayon, the rabbi’s widow, issued this statement:

“We should open our eyes and stop extending the other cheek. An enemy stands in front of us who pretends he is the poor victim, and we, out of great compassion, continue to support him and take care of him. In no other country in the world  would they do this. We pray to G-d and ask for the truth every day as my husband always asked for it so that we can distinguish between good and evil, and direct our compassion and concern to the right, true, and worthy places.”

Well said!

Disaster Knocking At Our Door: Be Sure To Vote

What is the disaster?

Joe Biden.

If you can believe this, reports out of Washington indicate that Biden has already promised the PLO that he will immediately reverse a large number of steps taken by President Trump in the past 4 years if he is elected.

Specifically, Biden will move quickly to:

*reopen the PLO offices in Washington

*merge the US consulate in eastern Jerusalem with the US Embassy

*increase funding to the PLO

*renew funding for UNRWA

And on and on.

Here at OneIsrael our fervent hope is that this disaster can still be averted. We encourage all Americans to see the handwriting on the wall and to vote!

Addendum:

Your humble servant and his family voted today here in Ashdod. Our ballots were emailed to us from California; we printed them out and filled them in; and then we faxed them back to the Elections Office in our home county there.
