Quote of the Morning

“It’s still too early to congratulate Biden.”

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, President of Mexico speaking yesterday about why he hasn’t called Joe Biden to congratulate him on his “victory”.

Obrador may be one of the few sane people on a planet which is crazily awash in Biden congratulatory messages (see Today’s Blog below as to why these messages may be premature). From the Muslim Brotherhood to Tehran, there is dancing in the street over the prospects of a Biden presidency.

The News On The Israeli Street

The “daily” Corona (Covid-19) update . . .

The following covers the last 24 hours (from 8 am yesterday until 8 am today:

There are 318,949 confirmed casesan increase of 547

307,443 of these confirmed cases have recoveredan increase of 553

325 are in critical condition—an increase of 1

143 the most critically ill are on ventilators—a decrease of 3

2,664 have diedan increase of 20

There are now 11,506 active Corona cases in Israel.

As we have been noting for several weeks now, the government and Health Ministry have ostensibly gotten the second wave of Corona under control by simply reducing the number of tests being administered.  For the last week, the hospital stats (critical condition, ventilators, and deaths) have remained fairly stable.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs at Elon Moreh (a child was wounded), on Road 443, and at numerous places on the roads in Gush Etzion such as Tekoa and Al-Aruv.

The annual anti-Israel day at the United Nations . . .

Yesterday was anti-Israel day at the United Nations (actually every day is anti-Israel day there). 7 pro-Palestinian resolutions condemning Israel of everything from Corona to cottage cheese were passed by 139 countries in the General Assembly in their annual display of vicious anti-Semitism.

In one way, it was the usual cast of characters who passed the resolutions with countries like Cuba, Indonesia, and Jordan leading the way. Interestingly, some of the most vitriolic anti-Israel speeches in support of the resolutions came from our new “friends” Bahrain, Sudan and the United Arab Emirates.

So much for normalization.

On the other hand, there were a few bright spots with 19 countries including Malawi and Serbia which had supported such resolutions in previous years either voting against or abstaining.

The Israeli Media and Left Exult in Biden’s “Victory”

Biden! Biden! Biden! Hooray for Biden!!!

That is all we have been hearing on Israeli television since late yesterday afternoon Israeli time when the major American television networks projected that Joe Biden will be the next president. A veritable parade of rejoicing leftist politicians and commentators has been brought into television studios to “comment” on the American election.

The sheer joy and even exultation about Biden’s projected victory has been even more nauseating given the fact that President Trump has been the best president in history for Israel. But that doesn’t matter to the Israeli media which has long been in bed with the Israeli “left”–and with the American “left”.

Why are they so happy? Because what the Israeli left and American left have been unable to accomplish with Netanyahu, they now feel has been accomplished with Trump. Even more, they believe the defeat of Trump will hasten the exit of Bibi.

Yet when is a victory not a victory? When it has yet to be certified as such–and we are at least a month away from that in the United States.

As your humble servant has been writing since the day after the U.S. election, I have no doubt that Joe Biden will wind up as the next American president.

Having said that, the rush to declare him president is decidedly premature.

In the first place, there is no doubt that significant fraud to the tune of hundreds of thousands of mail-in votes. was perpetrated by Democrats in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.  There are now legal challenges to the results in these states. See Caroline Glick’s excellent article yesterday about this.

In the second place, there is no doubt that the Supreme Court is going to weigh in on the results in Pennsylvania over whether or not ballots received after the deadline should have been counted. Apparently the same situation exists in Nevada.

In the third place, the vote total in Georgia is remains too close to call with military mail-ins yet to be counted. In North Carolina, Trump is still ahead in the vote.

It may be an extremely slim possibility that Trump will emerge as victor, but it is nevertheless an extremely slim possibility.

What Biden and his cohorts in the media and on the “left” are trying to establish is “the fact” of his presidency, a “fact” that the Supreme Court–in the interest of civil calm– may find it difficult to overturn.
