The News on the Israeli Street

The “daily” Corona (Covid-19) update . . .

The following covers the last 24 hours (from 8 am yesterday until 8 am today):

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists attacked the IDF station at Psagot with Molotovs and “rocks”. No soldiers were wounded. Two terrorists were captured.

Following up on a tip, police here in Ashdod captured an armed Palestinian at a construction site who had planned an attack in the city.

Luban A-Sharqiya, Al Aruv, Anatot, Givat Assaf,  the HLA Checkpoint, and between the Jaba and Zurif Checkpoints were six places among many yesterday where Palestinian terrorists assaulted Israelis.

The saga of the Palestinian tax payment . . .

To recap this situation yet again: Israel collects taxes from importers of goods destined to Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria. These taxes are then turned over to the PLO.

In the last year, Israel decided to not pay all of the tax money to the PLO because some of that tax money is used to pay the salaries of Palestinian terrorists sitting in Israeli prison and stipends to the families of terrorists who were killed while murdering of attempting to murder Israelis.

Earlier this year, the PLO decided to stop taking any of the tax money if it could not get all of it. And so the matter stayed until yesterday when the Israeli Security Cabinet approved the transfer of 2.5 billion shekels (about $750 million dollars) of Palestinian tax money to the PLO.

The Cabinet conditioned this on the PLO accepting that 600 million shekels would be deducted because of the payments to terrorists.

The Iranians are hit again . . . and again . . .

In the wake of the assassination several days ago, the commander of the Haj Masalem group within the Revolutionary Guards was killed yesterday when his convoy was hit by a drone at the Al-Qaim Crossing between Syria and Iraq.

In addition, a petrochemical plant in Sanadag, Iran exploded yesterday and went up in smoke.

Black Friday sales . . .

Israeli merchants sold $880 million dollars worth of goods three days ago which will certainly help out those many businesses which are suffering because of Corona.

As positive as this number is, sales were down by 3.6% from last year.

TODAY’S BLOG:

No Friends Of Israel On Biden’s New Communications Team

Unfortunately, President-elect Joe Biden is wasting no time doing exactly what we thought he would.

He is filling any number of important positions with anti-Israel people meant to guarantee that Israel will have a rough ride for the next four years.

Consider the announcement today of Biden’s Communication Team. Just a quick look at three of these reveals where things are heading.

Let’s begin with Jen Psaki, the new White House Press Secretary

During the Obama years, Psaki was the odious spokesperson for the abominable John Kerry at the U.S. State Department. Hardly a day went by that Psaki did not lambaste Israel from the podium. During those years, we literally posted dozens of her most egregious attempts to throw Israel under the bus.

Or how about the new Chief Spokesperson for the Vice President, Symone Sanders.

Sanders first came to prominence as an Israel basher during Bernie Sanders’ run for the White House in 2016. As Sanders’ spokesperson, she doubled down on Sanders’ incessant barrage of anti-Israel garbage. What she did for Sanders she is sure to do for her new boss Kamala Harris.

However, Psaki and Sanders pale in their anti-Israel vitriol to Karine Jean-Pierre, the new Principal Deputy Press Secretary.

Jean-Pierre, a national spokesperson and senior advisor for George Soros’ MoveOn.Org, built her career on castigating Israel. Aside from encouraging presidential candidates to boycott AIPAC, she described AIPAC as “severely racist” and “Islamophobic.” At other times, she has suggested that Israel has committed war crimes against Gazan “protesters.”

Psaki, Sanders, and Jean-Pierre: Israelis will hear a lot from this trio in the coming years–and will wonder why in the world American Jews were so eager to support their boss.
