The Revealing Photo of the Day

For the past few days, we have been reporting on the egregious abuse of police power that resulted in the death of Ahuvya Sandak. Yesterday we mentioned that a photograph of the crash scene had been taken down by authorities presumably because it incriminated the undercover detectives.

Indeed it does. Below is that photograph:

Look carefully in this photo from the Jewish Voice. Especially note the car in the foreground.

Look carefully in this photo from the Jewish Voice. Especially note the car in the foreground.

What are you looking at?

The superimposed photo of Ahuvya Sandak; the smashed front end of the undercover detective car that repeatedly struck the boys’ car forcing it off the road; the boys’ car upside down in the background–the car in which Ahuvya died as the undercover detectives ignored him while rushing to arrest the other boys in the car.

The newest wrinkle in this tragic case?

Now, outrageously, the police want to charge the other boys in the car with “murder by negligence”. The police obsession with “the Hilltop Youth” knows no bounds.

Should the three detectives in this case be charged with murder?

What do you think dear reader?

TODAY’S BLOG:

Likud And Netanyahu Begin To Bleed

As we wrote yesterday, the political situation on the ground here in Israel somehow seems markedly different than the pre-election situations before.

One of the biggest differences is within Netanyahu’s Likud party itself with any number of Likud stalwarts suggesting that they might be ready to jump ship and join Gideon Sa’ar’s new party.

Yesterday, just such a Likud earthquake occurred when Ze’ev Elkin announced that he could no longer support Netanyahu whom he accused of destroying Likud by putting his personal interests before those of the country.

To realize the importance of Elkin’s move, consider the fact that Elkin has been one of Netanyahu’s closest confidantes and has served as translator for Netanyahu in all of his meetings with Vladimir Putin.

He has served as the Chairman of the Likud Faction, Chairman of the Coalition, Chairman of the Land of Israel Lobby, and Chairman of the Jerusalem Lobby.

At various times in his career, he has served on the Finance, Immigration, and Education Committees in the Knesset, and has served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs not to mention Chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. He is the current Minister of Higher of Education and Minister of Water Resources.

To make a long story short, Elkin’s departure can only be seen as a major blow to Netanyahu and a major boost to Sa’ar.

Is the trickle turning into a flood?

Elkin joins Likud Mk Sharren Haskel, Likudnik Michal Shir, and Likud MK Yifat Shasha-Biton in bolting Likud to join Sa’ar–who himself left Likud and formed his own party after being no longer able to support Netanyahu.

One should never count Netanyahu out, but he is certainly down on the canvas at the moment and who knows if he will be able to stem the tide of defections?
