The Missile Attack Last Night

The attack locations last night.

The attack locations last night.

At precisely 8:00 pm last night here in Ashdod, your humble servant and his family were watching the Israeli news when suddenly the red bar flashed in the upper right hand corner of the screen announcing incoming missiles for the area from Netiv Ha’asara on the Gaza border to Ashkelon.

We immediately quietened the television, and heard the sirens south of us coming from Ashkelon.

Within 15 seconds, we heard 5 successive booming explosions which we assumed to be Iron Dome intercepts, or attempted intercepts. Five concussive booms which shook our house and gave lie to the IDF Spokesman’s report an hour later that only 2 missiles had been fired by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.

A few hours later, the IDF “responded” (click here for the IDF video: as you watch it notice that there is no indication whatsoever that anything was actually blown up or that any terrorist was killed or wounded) and issued this statement:

“The attack was carried out in response to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory tonight. The terrorist organzation Hamas bears responsibility for what is happening in and out of Gaza, and will bear the consequences of terrorist acts against Israeli citizens.”

We could go on about how this attack and lack of response followed exactly the same pattern as literally hundreds of attacks before, but the social media response was correctly damning. Here are some samples which sum up the feeling of OneIsrael:

–Bibi Prime Minister Zero. He abandoned the residents of the South long ago and the only thing to his credit is that he created an entire generation suffering from PTSD. It is his shame, and he needs to go…

–The military is not to blame for the lack of deterrence. The political echelon suffers from impotence led by King Bibi The Impotent.

–What a joke! Hamas fires rockets at civilians and Israel attacks Hamas targets for the thousandth time. Where did the Israeli-Jewish initiative go? Where is our life instinct? With Bibi will sink even deeper into the abyss.

–Alarms in Ashkelon but as they say in Likud: “So what about firing on Ashkelon; they will vote for Likud anyway.”

–3 ants were killed on a dune.

–They say a rocket and tunnel production site was attacked; so if we knew where they were, then why in the hell haven’t we hit them before now?

–Hamas has been firing missiles at communities along the border for years, and the IDF has been “holding Hamas responsible” for years.

–The IDF targeted Hamas? They targeted a pile of sand in Fatma’s garden.

–You cannot see anything that was bombed–just a boom from some movie.

And so it goes here in southern Israel until the next missile attack. And the next lack of response.
