The Archaeological Find Of The Day

What do you think this is?

What do you think this is?

This small lamp, made in the shape of a half-face of a man with bulging eyes, was just discovered by archaeologists in the foundation of a Second Temple structure on what was the Pilgrimage Road leading to the Har HaBeit (Temple Mount).

One theory is that the lamp was put into the foundation as a good luck charm; another is that is was part of a ritual ceremony. In either case, it is extremely rare–nothing like it has ever been found in Israel before.

The News on the Israeli Street

And

Today’s Blog

Just about the only news on the Israeli street today is the bad news that President Rivlin has asked Yair Lapid of the Yesh Atid Party to try to form a government. At the same time, Naftali Bennett, head of the Yamina Party, has given a speech in which he made every indication that he would work with Lapid to form a government.

Here’s what such a government might look like:

Yesh Atid 17 seats

Blue and White 8

Yamina 7

Yisrael Beiteinu 7

Joint Arab List 6

New Hope 6

Meretz 6

Ra’am 4

Common practice and most state laws require that a generic drug hence it treats significantly one’s erection issue just like generic cialis pills . Total: 61 seats

How such a government could function is difficult to fathom because the only point they have in common is a dislike of Netanyahu.

Where do the parties stand ideologically?

On the far left: Joint Arab List, Meretz, Ra’am  (16 seats)

On the center-left: Yesh Atid, Blue and White (25 seats)

On the center right: New Hope, Yisrael Beiteinu (13 seats)

On the right: Yamina (7)

In the above configuration, it is difficult to see how Yisrael Beiteinu and Yamina would be willing to join forces with the Joint Arab List and Ra’am.

With the above coalition, who would be on the outside?

Likud, Religious Zionism, Shas, and United Torah Judaism. To put it a different way, the religious parties would be out in the cold.

In any case, what would the future hold with such a government? There is no doubt that the government would lean markedly to the left if for no other reason than the left and left-leaning parties would be able to veto any initiatives on the right:

1. There would be a rush to embrace the PLO and Hamas.

2. The half million Israelis living in Judea and Samaria would be thrown under the bus.

3. In foreign affairs, Israel would rush to ingratiate itself with the Biden Administration and the European Union.

4. In domestic affairs, there would be a sea change with the religious parties out of control of such ministries as the Interior Ministry.

Stay tuned as more information becomes available.
