A big fashla (Yiddish for mess) . . .

In 2014, Israel Railways purchased 330 new train cars from Siemens at a cost of 3.8 billion shekels.

It has now been discovered that the train cars were built to European specifications producing a situation in which the exit from the cars is 20 cm below the train station platform in Israel.

Now, the Transport Ministry is in a quandary about whether to install lifts on the train cars that will elevate passengers before they get off or to somehow lower the train station platforms.

 TODAY’S BLOG:

The Political Scene Devolves Into Farce

As the clock was running out on Netanyahu’s mandate, the Likud Party was rushing to herd preliminary approval of legislation through the Knesset Organizing Committee including:

–a law to have the prime minister chosen by a direct vote of the people

–a law to legalize Jewish outposts in Judea and Samaria

–a law that would enable the Knesset to “overcome” decisions of the Supreme Court

The truth is that Likud never had the slightest intention of seeing these laws pass when they came up for a series of votes before the full Knesset; all Likud was farcically trying to do was put pressure on Gideon Sa’ar and his New Hope party, and Naftali Bennett and his Yamina Party.

Breaking news . . . Following his return of the government formation mandate to President Rivlin, Netanyahu has launched into a full-scale attack on Naftali Bennett claiming that if Bennett had joined him, then Gideon Sa’ar and Bezalel Smotrich would have followed.

This is nothing but farcical nonsense. Sa’ar continuously said he would never serve under Netanyahu, and Smotrick vehemently declared he would never be in a government with the Islamic Party, Ra’am.
