Of course, your humble servant would rather celebrate the 4th of July in the USA than anywhere else. And failing that, I’d love to have our annual 4th of July beach party here in Ashdod.

But this morning, I was so happy to see American flags all over Tirana, Albania where we’ve been for a few days. They were a wonderful sight!!

The Funny Photo of the Day

Speaking of the 4th of July, Israelis love to get into the act. This morning, our new FM Yair Lapid tweeted this:

Do you notice anything awry?

Do you notice anything awry?

If you look closely, you will see that the flag that looks like the American flag is actually the Liberian flag.

Nobody has ever accused Lapid of having any intelligence; you may recall, that he completely faked having a college degree.

The Hilarious Story of the Morning

Speaking of funny and national symbols, Israeli-Arab visitor to Turkey, Muhammad Nader was chucked into Turkish prison yesterday and then deported out of the country because he stood in a hotel lobby and blew his nose into a Turkish 20-pound bank note.

Obviously, the Turks didn’t take kindly to the “desecration” of their currency the value of which has dropped precipitously in recent years. In fact, a 20-pound currency note has about the value of a nose rag.

Corona Surges Again

This morning brings with it the news that more than 60,000 Israelis are now in quarantine. Another 300+ people (323) tested positive yesterday, and Hebrew University researchers estimate 1000 daily infections two weeks from now if the current trend continues.

There were three pieces of good news during the day: first, the number of seriously and critically ill has remained the same; similarly, and more importantly, the number of people who have died from the virus has remained at zero for almost a week; also, there has been a sudden uptick in vaccinations with 87,000 vaccinated this past week.
