The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists attacked IDF soldiers between Hevron and Kiryat Arba. One soldier was wounded in the leg; the terrorists escaped.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli buses on Road 55 between Kedumim and Pondock as well as north of the T-Junction in Samaria.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli motorists with Molotovs near the Zif Junction near Hevron, on the trans-Judea west of the Halhul Bridge, and near Beit Omer among more than a dozen locations.

The daily Corona update . . .

4,313 more Israelis were confirmed “yesterday” as having Covid-19. There are now 46,647 active cases in the country.

1,284,063 Israelis have contracted Corona since the pandemic began.

The positive test rate yesterday was 3.81%.

607 Israelis are in serious condition with another 214 in critical condition on ventilators.

7,761 Israelis have died–29 since yesterday.

Vaccinations:

6,119,945 Israelis have received 1 dose.

5,641,166 Israelis have received 2 doses.

3,404,619 Israelis have received 3 doses.

A scandal erupted in Israeli social media today with the discovery that the Israel Health Ministry has been deleting thousands of comments from its website concerning the side effects of the 3rd vaccination dose. Comments such as “my hand became paralyzed” and “a close friend of mine got meningitis”, and “I got shingles” were deleted almost as quickly as they were posted.

In yet another bizarre decision by the government, it has just been announced that as of October 4, there will be no countries in the world classified as “red” because of Corona. Israelis will be free to travel anywhere no matter how bad the Covid-19 situation is there.

And they will undoubtedly return to Israel bringing Corona with them.

Israel begins drilling . . .

In an almost shocking development (because it runs counter to our Concession Government’s concession policy), Israel has begun drilling in the northern section of the Shark national gas reservoir on the border with Lebanon.

This is an area claimed by Lebanon as being in Lebanese territorial waters.

We can expect bellicose statements from the Lebanese, Hezbollah, and Iran tomorrow.

TODAY’S BLOG:

PM Bennett Slides Further Into The Leftist Abyss

As you may not know, PM Naftali Bennett was supposed to meet with his Coalition Partner Mansour Abbas of the Islamist Ra’am Party in Umm Al-Fahm several days ago.

The meeting was meant to shore up what appears to be a faltering alliance with the Muslim Party by showing coalition unity.

It turns out that the date of the meeting was the same date that some Israeli-Arabs have now memorialized–remembering 13 Arab-Israeli rioting demonstrators who were killed by the police in October 2000.

When this came to light, Bennett happily postponed the meeting out of respect for Abbas, Ra’am, and other anti-Zionist Israeli Arabs. Mansour Abbas was quick with an announcement that the meeting did not take place because the day is set aside to “honor the memory of the martyrs.”

The martyrs?

A few observations:

1. It is bad enough that our current Concession Government depends on an Islamist Party to remain in power.

2. It is doubly bad that the Islamist Party brazenly feels that it is free to engage in martyr terminology with no fear of repercussions.

3. It is triply bad that our leftist prime minister agreed to go along with the memorial.

What in the world have we come to in Israel?
