 The Sweet Of The Day

Yes, I know that I have already posted some before, but this wildly mutated looking sweet cheese kanafe was just so mouth-watering that it deserved its own post.

The News on the Israeli Street

The weekly Corona update . . .

55 Israelis are now verified with Omicron of which 42 had been vaccinated.  51 more Israelis are suspected of having the variant.

As of Friday, only 9% (about 111,000) of Israeli children aged 5-11 have been vaccinated with at least 1 dose of vaccine. The government campaign to have them vaccinated has been, in the words of PM Bennett, “an utter failure.”

It appears certain that in addition to three doses of vaccine, Israelis will now be expected to receive a 4th in late January or early February.

The number of people confirmed with Corona over the weekend: 568 (an increase of 101 from last weekend).

The total number of active cases: 5,803 (an increase of 463 from last week)

The positive test rate: 0.68% (up from 0.51% last week)

In serious condition: 102 (a drop of 9 from last week)

In critical condition: 61 (a drop of 3 from last week)

The number who have died of Corona since the beginning of the pandemic: 8,210 (an increase of 9 from last week)

Vaccinated with 3 doses: 4,120,291

A curious mix of numbers: daily verified, total active cases, and positive test rate all trending upward–leading researchers at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem to state today that we have entered the 5th wave. On the other hand, the numbers of those in serious and critical condition have dropped, and “only” about 1 person died per day last week.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli motorists with “rocks” and Molotovs at the British Police Junction, between Dotan and Hermesh, on Road 60 near Luban a-Sharqiya, among other places.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli buses at Hizma, on Road 55 near Kedumim, and at Tekoa.

Palestinian terrorists attempted to infiltrate an IDF base in northern Israel but were repulsed by the security guards.

Two Palestinian terrorists armed with grenades and knives were captured as they tried to infiltrate Israel from southern Gaza.

A Palestinian terrorist was shot and killed at Givat Eviatar during an assault on our troops.

All incidents above were reported to Rescue Without Borders Judea and Samaria.

Speaking of “rock” and Molotov terrorism . . .

The IDF is once again changing its “open fire” regulations in a further attempt to neuter our soldiers. The change comes in the wake of what happened near Mevo Dotan in Samaria last week.

In that incident, IDF Givati fighters identified Palestinian terrorists throwing “rocks” at Israeli vehicles, ambushed them, and opened fire wounding one.

Now, the IDF General Command has ruled the IDF soldiers cannot ambush anyone and that only a division commander–not a commander of a company, brigade, or battalion– may authorize firing at terrorists.

As one Givati officer said after the new regulations were given: “What do they want? We are now supposed to run after the terrorists and see if we can capture them by hand?”

TODAY’S BLOG:

“We want Ashkelon, Ashdod, Beersheva, Acre (Akk0), and Nahariya.”

Note that Ashkelon, Ashdod, Akko, and Nahariya were all allotted to "Palestine."

Note that Ashkelon, Ashdod, Akko, and Nahariya were all allotted to “Palestine.”

In response to the never-ending concessions that our government is handing out to the Palestinians by the minute, PLO head Mahmoud Abbas (aka Abu Mazen) came forth with a new demand yesterday.

You will remember that for years, Abbas has been ranting about a return to the “June 4, 1967 lines”–also known as “the 1949 armistice lines”.

No more.

Yesterday, Abbas declared “We want  Ashkelon, Ashdod, Beersheva, Akko (Acre), and Nahariya, and not just the borders of 1967.”

More specifically, Abbas said that the new starting point should be the lines of the U.N. Partition Plan as of November 29, 1947.

Lest we forget, the Arabs rejected the U.N. Partition Plan, and in the ensuing war lost territory that had been allotted to it.

But back to the present. It is the same old story that we have documented ad nauseum here at OneIsrael: the more you give the Palestinians, the more they demand.

Of course, what they really want is all of Israel, but no one in the world seems to be listening.
