A bucolic scene in the Golan Heights--but really not so. Mosquitos with the West Nile virus were discovered here yesterday.

The Health Ministry has issued numerous restrictions in the wake of the discovery ranging from reducing watering to treating standing water such as in the small pond above.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

A Jewish shepherd from Ma’on near Mt. Hevron was badly wounded in the head by Palestinian terrorists. He is currently in intensive care at Soroka Hospital in critical condition. The terrorists escaped.

Palestinian terrorists also attacked Israelis with “rocks”, Molotovs, and IEDs near A-Twani, Road 55 near Karnei Shomron and Kedumim, at Luban a-Sharqiya, and Tekoa, and at two dozen other locations.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on an engineering group near the Jalama Checkpoint near Jenin. No Israelis were wounded, but substantial damage was done to IDF bulldozers.

Trouble at the daycare center . . .

There was a rebellion at the Naamat Daycare Center in Holon this morning as parents blocked the entrance to the center to not allow the entry of Palestinian female workers.

Yesterday, the parents discovered that the daycare center had brought in 4 women from eastern Jerusalem–self identified as Palestinians–to take care of their babies. When they complained to the director of the daycare center, she said: “We will not tolerate racism and discrimination of any kind – not in our school. It is a disgrace. We will protect the right of all our female workers to work regardless of their origin or religion.”

Racism and discrimination?

One of the parents responded today: “Yesterday they brought 4 nannies from East Jerusalem to the kindergarten. They don’t speak Hebrew. No security checks were done on them. They have not passed certification for handling young children or any sort of social assessment. They entered without the knowledge and consent of the parents.”

There is nothing to say except that the parents of the children are absolutely right. Numerous terror attacks have been at the hands of women in eastern Jerusalem.

This Is What It Has Come To In Israel

Wrap your mind around this dear reader.

Yesterday, PM Lapid, Internal Security Minister Omer Bar-Lev, Chief of Police Kobi Shabtai, members of the Jerusalem District of the Police, and members of Shabak met in order to “prepare for the upcoming Jewish High Holidays.”

So far so good.

We know that the PLO, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad have already called on Palestinians to incite violence on the Temple Mount–especially during the pitifully few morning and noon hours when Jews are permitted to go to the Mount.

So, being prepared to thwart this violence is good.

But what did our motley crew of Israeli officials decide to do?

They decided to issue restraining orders to prohibit selected Palestinians and Jews from going to the Mount.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Jews are going to be prohibited from going to the holiest place in Judaism during the holiest time of the year.

What we have come to with this government is the belief that there is no difference between Jews who want to defend Jewish rights by worshiping on the Temple Mount and terrorists who want to murder Jews who worship on the Mount.
