8:00 pm Israel time

The events of the last hour:

The events of the last hour:

Israel continues its attacks against Islamic Jihad in Gaza. An IAF missile just wiped out a 3-man missile squad in Khan Younis in southern Gaza:

Both Hamas and Hezbollah have indicated in the last hour that they plan to “join the fight against the Occupation.” As a result, the IDF is now redeploying some units out of Hamas mortar range, and has redeployed Iron Dome batteries to both the Lebanese and Syria borders.

Islamic Jihad has declared that it will begin launching missiles at 9:00 pm this evening. In the meantime, dozens of mortars have already been fired at Israeli communities and IDF positions along the Gaza border.

Other news . . .

We are continually finding out more information about the attacks that have already happened.

**The plan to carry out targeted assassinations of Islamic Jihad leaders began to be developed during Ramadan when Islamic Jihad terror attacks were carried out against Israelis. However, it was decided to wait until after Ramadan and after Israel Independence Day to implement the plan.

The actual order came after the most recent attack on Sderot. However, the IDF decided to wait until last night at which time all three senior Islamic Jihad leaders could be hit at the same time.

**Israel employed deception. Apparently, the government had signed off on discussions in Cairo with Hamas and Islamic Jihad leaders in the coming days. The three who were killed were scheduled to leave for Egypt today but had returned to their homes before leaving. Their apartments were hit as they slept:

**In the Gaza attack, the Air Force used GBU-39B Small Diameter Bombs. Made in the USA, these are an advanced generation of bombs with long range and penetration capabilities. Wings open when dropped from an aircraft, and the bomb has the ability to penetrate military bases and bunkers:

**For whatever reason, Egypt announced its intention today to stop being a mediator between Israel and Gaza. Whether this divorce will actually happen remains to be seen.

**While the attacks in Gaza have been going on, IDF special forces have been carrying out operations in Shechem. Intense firefights have been taking place all day.

**Apparently more than 4000 residents of Sderot have been evacuated in anticipation of the missiles to come. The outpouring of support around the country for citizens of the South has been heartwarming.

In still other news:

**The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Tom Nides, has submitted his resignation and will be leaving his post at the beginning of June. No reason has been given for his decision, but it is a welcome one. Nides has been a thorn in Israel’s side since he took office.
