The News on the Israeli Street

The war in Judea and Samaria.

Shooting attacks:

Palestinian terrorists attacked our soldiers in Nur Shams (near Tulkarm). One soldier was wounded by an IED.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire from the Elef Ridge on a military ambulance outside of  Kiryat Arba. No Israelis were wounded.

Palestinian terrorists fired on IDF soldiers at Askar.

Palestinian terrorists and IDF forces engaged in “a massive firefight” in Jenin. There are no further reports at this time.

“Rock”, IED, Molotov attacks:

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis at Givat Assaf (buses and cars) with one Israeli wounded, Zubidat, between Ali and Rachelim, Bitonia, Peduel, and at least two dozen other locations.

The military prosecutor’s office devolves into utter insanity . . .

We’ve had months of anarchists in Tel Aviv waving PLO flags and chanting “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

Finally it was just too much for two female IDF soldiers who proceeded to photograph themselves burning a PLO flag. They then distributed the photograph on various social networks.

They were subsequently arrested, and today were sentenced to two-week prison terms for their actions.

It is just unbelievable.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Those Poor “Very Troubled” Bidenites

In the past, when we have seen see heavy machinery in Judea and Samaria, it was there to destroy Jewish communities. Not this time. This is the relocation of the modular yeshiva at Homesh.

In the past, when we have seen see heavy machinery in Judea and Samaria, it was there to destroy Jewish communities. Not this time. This is the relocation of the modular yeshiva at Homesh.

It was just four days ago that PM Netanyahu joyously declared “This is the dawn of a new day” after the passage of the budget.

Yesterday, we got another glimpse of this new day.

In a shockingly wonderful move, the Coalition government signed off on what was essentially an undercover operation to move the yeshiva at Homesh from its location (believed to be on private Palestinian land) to a new location a few hundred yards away on Israel state land.

In reconstructing the yeshiva in its new location, the government signaled its willingness to rebuild the Samarian Jewish community that was forcibly evacuated by then-PM Ariel Sharon in 2005 as part of his unilateral withdrawal from Gaza.

Anyway you slice it, this is a major victory for Israeli sovereignty over Area C of  Judea and Samaria and would have never happened without our current government.

Why did we say that it was “essentially undercover”? Because for once, the IDF refused permission to journalists to cover the move.

Why was it “shocking”? Because PM Netanyahu had to know that the move would arouse the immediate wrath of the extortionists in the White House, and indeed it did with this statement:

“We are deeply troubled by the Israeli government’s recent order that allows its citizens to establish a permanent presence in the Homesh outpost in the northern West Bank . . . The expansion of settlements undermines the geographic viability of a two-state solution, exacerbates tensions, and further harms trust between the parties.”

Let’s set the record straight for the “deeply troubled” Bidenites:

1. Jews have have had a permanent presence in Samaria for some 3000 years.

2. Homesh is not an outpost. It was a thriving a community that Israel forcibly evacuated in hopes of a peace that never came.

3. The reestablishment of Homesh is not part of an “expansion of settlements” (though we wish it were).

4. We already have a three-state solution. There is Israel, a Palestinian state in Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria, and another Palestinian state in Gaza. It is long past time to put the “two-state solution” mantra to permanent rest.

5. What exacerbates tensions and undermines trust is the never ending stream of terror that emanates from Ramallah and Gaza.
