The Photo of the Day

The village idiots at it again. Look closely at this group of "protesters" outside of Opposition leader Yair Lapid's house yesterday. What you see on the street in front of them are containers of bleach. The message on the signs "Don't whitewash the dictatorship by talking with them about reform."

The irony is that the abominable Lapid is not talking to anybody about anything. But it is good to see “protesters” in front of his house for a change.

The News on the Israeli Street

The war in Judea and Samaria.

Run-over attack:

A Palestinian terrorist ran over two IDF soldiers in Hawara, one seriously wounded, the other moderately. The terrorist was later captured by security forces.

Shooting attacks:

Palestinian terrorists attacked IDF troops with gunfire in Shechem overnight.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF soldiers operating in Kabatia.

Palestinian terrorists attacked our soldiers on Mt. Gerizim.

Molotov, IED, “rock” attacks:

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli men, women, and children in Gush Etzion west of the T-Junction, on Road 465 near Deir Abu Meshal, on Road 458 north of Kochav Hashar, and at dozens of other locations.

TODAY’S BLOG

Settlement expansion is an obstacle to peace

So declared a headline in the leftist Jerusalem Post this morning. Can you guess who the quote belonged to?

If you guessed someone in the Biden Administration, you win the OneIsrael prize for the day.

That someone was U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken speaking at the annual AIPAC convention in Washington yesterday.

He followed his “settlement expansion” declaration with these gems which he said endanger peace:

“any move toward annexation of the West Bank (his term) de facto or de jure”

“disruption of the status quo at holy sites”

“the continuing demolitions of homes and the evictions of families that have lived in those homes for generations”

“undermining the basic daily dignity to which all people are entitled”

Do you notice anything missing in this litany of peace obstacles enunciated by Blinken?

There is not one word about Palestinian incitement, Palestinian missile attacks, Palestinian murders and wounding of Israelis or Palestinian rock-Molotov-IED-run over-arson attacks. In short, according to Biden Administration ideology, Israel bears the sole responsibility for peace; the poor infantile Palestinians bear no responsibility at all.

To respond to Blinken’s blather:

“Settlement expansion is an obstacle to peace.”

As we all know, there was no peace before there were any “settlements”; the PLO was established in 1964. There was no peace when there were only a few Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria in the 1970s. There was no peace when dozens of new Jewish communities sprouted up in the 1980s and 1990s. And there has been no peace in the 2000s when there have been no new communities and virtually no expansion of older ones.

In short, “settlement expansion” has nothing to do with peace.

“Any move toward annexation of the West Bank (his term) de facto or de jure” is an obstacle to peace.

The only annexation that is being attempted is the de facto annexation of Area C by the massive illegal building of Palestinian infrastructure funded primarily by the European Union . . . and the concomitant attempt to move Palestinians from Areas A and B to Area C.

What is being attempted by the current government is the solidifying of Israeli control over Area C–which is the heartland of Israel.

“Disruption of the status quo at holy sites” is an obstacle to peace.

This is an obvious reference to the 2 visits of our Minister for National Security Itamar Ben Gvir to the holiest place in Judaism–the Temple Mount. In case Blinken and Biden have forgotten, the Temple Mount is sovereign Israel.

Blinken’s gall in making such a statement when he knows the extraordinary lengths that Israel goes through to protect the right of all worshipers on the Mount is simply breathtaking.

“The continuing demolitions of homes and the evictions of families that have lived in those homes for generations” is an obstacle for peace..

This reference is to homes in and around Sheikh Jarrah–homes that belonged to Jews before they were kicked out by the Jordanians in the late 1940s and 50s since which time Palestinians have squatted in them.

And, Mr. Blinken, it should be pointed out that not one single demolition or eviction has taken place without the express approval of the Israel Supreme Court.

Undermining the basic daily dignity to which all people are entitled.

Listen to your own words, Mr. Blinken: “to which all people are entitled.” The tiresome rhetoric which comes out of Washington these days is all about dignity for the Palestinians, and no dignity for Israelis–who are expected to kowtow to every whim of the Biden Administration.

One final word:

It speaks volumes that we have reached a point at which an American Secretary of State can come to a meeting of AIPAC and be applauded for lambasting the Israeli government with nearly every sentence.
