Tales Told By Idiots, Full of Sound and Fury, Signifying Nothing

Nasrallah’s harangue yesterday about Hezbollah destroying northern Israel, delivered on the huge video screen which he hides behind, was indeed “a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing” [with apologies to Shakespeare’s Macbeth].  Netanyahu’s response was short and to the point: “a person who hides in bunkers should stay in his bunker.” Tomorrow another tale will be told at the UN Security Council as the Palestinians, having rejected the U.S. compromise, bring their resolution condemning the construction of housing in Jewish communities in the West Bank and Jerusalem to a vote. Will the U.S. exercise its veto or join the idiots?

Finally, why is it that Arab leaders so like to strut and bluster? It must be because preening and posturing appeal to their people–people apparently incapable of critical thought. Is this the result of an educational system that focuses on the Koran as the answer to all questions? Such is the neighborhood that Israel inhabits.
