Snow Day In Israel!

NUMBER OF DAYS UNTIL THE ISRAELI ELECTION: 13

ISRAELSTREET endorses NAFTALI BENNETT for Prime Minister

Head of “HaBayit HaYehudi” (The Jewish Home) political party

“We can’t have peace with the Palestinians. Enough. How long can we talk about this? We can only reach coexistence . . .”

UPDATES 5 pm Israeli time Wednesday:

**Jordan has closed its borders to Syrian-Palestinians. After absorbing more than 126,000 in the last month, Jordanian government spokesman Samih Maaytah commented this morning: “Jordan is not obligated to pay a political price for the Syrian crisis. Jordan does not prevent the return of its citizens, but the transfer of Palestinian refugees from Syria to Jordan is a matter of tens of thousands, something that Jordan cannot bear.”

The simple fact is that Jordan, which is already a majority-Palestinian country, fears that more Palestinians streaming across its borders will spell the end of “Jordan.”

**The entire world knows that Turkish companies have been circumventing the Iranian sanctions (as have other countries) by paying for Iranian oil in gold. Today, the Turkish government seized a cargo plane headed for Tehran that belongs to a Turkish energy company. Inside the plane was $64,000,000 in gold.

**Israeli election laws only permit election ads on television for a two week period before an election–and then only in a concentrated period of one to two hours when nothing but political ads are shown (called “the propaganda hour”). Last night was the first airing of such ads, and the ratings came in today. Apparently, 21.4% of Israeli households watched the political commercials–or at least a portion of them. This is almost exactly the same percentage as watched during the last election campaign back in 2009.

Special Addendum:

The blogging process is often beset with problems that are unpredictable and inexplicable. The WordPress platform that hosts this blog has been “behaving” erratically in the last few days. Often “tentative blogs” are being posted, and “past” blogs are being posted.

Yesterday israelstreet received several messages concerning a “sentence” about the Dayenu song sung at Pesach–a sentence that was not intended for publication (it was in a “rough draft” blog). Many more readers informed us that they were receiving an “inability to connect to database” message (I have been getting the same message this morning).

And all of this was taking place within the context of the relentless attempt of anti-Israel bashers to hack into the blog (there were more than 20 attempts yesterday alone).

I ask your patience; if you have troubles connecting, keeping trying.  Also, always check back for updates which are posted all day, everyday.
