The Trump Effect on Israel

Palestinian terror in the last 48 hours

More than 70 terror attacks were carried out by Palestinian terrorists on Wednesday and Thursday, none of which you will ever hear about in the international or Israeli media.

There were some 50 “rock” and Molotov assaults, a thwarted stabbing attack at the Jerusalem Light Rail’s French Hill stop, and an attempted breaching of the Gaza Border fence.

MADA has not released information on the number of Israelis wounded in the above attacks.

Meanwhile over in terrorist central (aka Ramallah)

In the midst of celebrations surrounding Yasser Arafat, Mahmoud Abbas said that “2017 will be a year of ending the Israeli occupation.”

What occupation? 97% of the Palestinians live in areas under complete Palestinian control (Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria, and Gaza).

But the world doesn’t want to hear that. “Occupation” is too sexy.

Speaking of Mahmoud Abbas

In another hilarious brown-nosing of the Russians, Abbas also announced yesterday that the Palestinians would name a street after Dmitry Medvedev (who is currently visiting Israel. Where the street will be was not disclosed except to say that it would be “somewhere in the West Bank.”

But wait . . . there’s more.

The PLO is also going to name a cultural center after Vladimir Putin.

Your humble servant doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Another attempt at noise abatement in Israel

A bill will be introduced in the Knesset tomorrow which seeks to ban all mosques in Israel from using high decibel public address systems to broadcast calls to prayer in the middle of the night.

For the last couple of weeks, people who live in neighborhoods afflicted by such noise have been waking up everyone in Mayor Nir Birkat’s neighborhood with taped recordings of such “noise.”

And you thought Hillary Clinton’s endless travels were absurd

You may remember that when Clinton was Secretary of State and lambasting Israel everyday, she visited 112 countries and logged 956,733 miles. If anyone can think of anything she accomplished while traveling on the public’s dime, it would be good to know.

Interestingly, in all those travels, she only came to Israel 5 times in contrast to other Secretaries of State: Henry Kissinger 36 times, Warren Christopher 34 times, Condoleeza Rice 25 times (Rice, by the way, holds the record for most miles traveled: 1.06 million).

Your humble servant thought about all of this yesterday when the Obama Administration announced the final travels of John Kerry and Barack Obama.

Kerry is currently burning an unknown quantity of jet fuel as he pollutes the atmosphere on a completely useless trip to Antarctica.

And why is Kerry in Antarctica increasing the size of the ozone hole over it? To receive a briefing from scientists there about the effects of climate change in Antarctica.

A briefing he could have received in his home in Washington, D.C.

After he finishes his polluting trip, he is coming back to the Middle East “for talks”, finally finishing his journeys in Morocco where he will give what the State Department says is a “major speech” on climate change.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Not to be outdone, Obama and his entourage will shortly head to Greece, Germany and Peru. According to the White House it is his “farewell tour.”

By the way, do you know how much it costs to fly Air Force 1 per hour?

$179,000.

The same that it costs to fly John Kerry’s plane for one hour.

At least by the end of this month, neither Kerry nor Obama will fly to Israel again (as Secretary of State, and as President).

TODAY’S BLOG:

The Trump Effect on Israel

“Israel is the one true democracy and defender of human rights in the Middle East and a beacon of hope to countless people.”

President-elect Donald Trump in a message to Israelis yesterday.

The Israeli media which has always devolved into endless speculation about Israeli politics doesn’t seem to be able to speculate enough about incoming President-elect Donald Trump.

And, because of the leftist leanings of the Israeli media, you can correctly infer that most of the speculation has been negative.

First, there has been the convoluted reasoning that Trump’s policies will lead to new Palestinian violence.

Take for example this paragraph from a YNet op-ed piece written by long-time journalist Ron Ben-Yishai published yesterday (emphasis mine):

Erectile dysfunction is a sexual problem that has become hurdle in male sexual life is nothing but resulting effect of midwayfire.com cialis tadalafil 5mg the functions of male reproductive organ. The most efficient natural cures for cipla viagra india erectile dysfunction from buying these tablets.
“As for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the two-state-for-two-people formula will likely enter a deep freeze for a long time. Trump will probably not try to impose any solution on the two sides or even peace negotiations, not to mention a solution based mainly on Israeli concessions. The combination between the current Israeli government and the Trump administration in Washington will likely lead to a deep freeze in the talks with the Palestinians, as opposed to – or perhaps because of – the tireless efforts made by former American presidents on the issue. We should remember, however, that a stalemate in the peace process may lead to a violent outbreak in the Israeli-Palestinian arena, a major bloody outbreak which we should prepare for.”

Let’s hope it enters a deep freeze forever, and thank goodness that Trump will not try to impose a solution based on Israeli concessions. But to then suggest that this will lead to a bloody outbreak? We have already had a bloody outbreak over the last few years–not to mention yesterday.

Or this paragraph from a Jerusalem Post op-ed:

Every day of his four terms as prime minister until now, whenever right-wing politicians pressured Netanyahu to build throughout Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, he would point to Washington and raise his hands. Now what will he say and do? Well, that depends on what his actual policies are in his heart of hearts, and with all due respect to current and former Netanyahu staffers, it is possible that no one knows that but Netanyahu himself.

Of course the inference is that Netanyahu will now be released from all constraints about construction in Jerusalem and Area C of Judea and Samaria–and this the Israeli media would have us believe is a bad thing.

Let’s hope that Netanyahu finally feels emboldened to take off the gloves and get on with the job of annexing Area C to Israel.

However, what is the bottom line?

No one has the slightest idea what President Trump will actually do.

What will be the Trump effect on Israel? No one knows.
