Bloomberg is out with its 2017 Innovation Index which ranks the most innovative countries in the world according to variety of factors: research and development intensity, manufacturing value-added, productivity, high-tech density, tertiary efficiency, researcher concentration, and patent activity.

After averaging out all the factors, Israel ranks 10th in the world (South Korea is first).

However, we dig more deeply into the statistics we find that:

Israel is number 1 in the world for researcher concentration.

Israel is number 2 in the world for research and development intensity.
