The News on the Israel Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists and international lawbreakers (self-proclaimed “human rights activists”) attacked Israelis at Hermala near Bethlehem, Hevron, El Bireh, Abu Dis, Azzun, Otniel, and Tekoa.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli motorists with “rocks” and Molotovs on Route 44 near Beit Horon, the Tapuach Junction, Neve Tzuf, Hawara, Hizma, on Route 443, and a myriad of other places.

All told there were more than 30 reports of terror attacks against Israelis made to Rescue Judea and Samaria, Rescue 443, hakolhayehudi, and rotter.

Statistics that give one pause . . .

What do the following statistics from the World Religion Database say to you, dear reader:

In 1910, 34.8% of the world’s population was Christian; in 2010, the percentage was 32.8%.

In 1910, 12.7% of the world’s population was Hindu; in 2010, the percentage was 13.8%.

In 1910, 12.6% of the world’s population was Muslim; in 2010, the percentage was 22.5%.

What these statistics say to your humble servant is the obvious: Christianity is in a very gradual decline, Hinduism is remaining stable, and Islam is in dramatic ascendancy. In another generation or two, Islam will overtake Christianity as the leading religion in the world.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The Coming Gaza Disaster on March 30

Two days ago, 5 Hamas infiltrators waltzed across the Gaza Border near Kissufim, destroyed part of the border fence and also destroyed IDF military equipment.

They even made a video of themselves doing it which has now been shown widely on Palestinian and Israeli television as well as on Al-Jazeera.

5 Hamas infiltrators.

So what is going to happen on Friday when hundreds or tens of thousands of Hamas supporters in Gaza with hundreds of cameramen in tow rush the Gaza border fence in the so-called “March of Return”?

The simple answer is that despite what the IDF says: no one knows.

As you have probably deduced from the above, the Gaza fence for most of its length is a simple wire fence that is easily breachable. Unless the IDF is willing to open fire on those approaching the fence, tens of thousands of Gazans will end up in Israel.

Yesterday, Hamas announced its three specific goals:

1. To reach maximum media exposure and impact on world public opinion.

2. To demonstrate that the Palestinians reject any American initiative to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

3. To show the Palestinian people and the world that the Palestinians have a “right to return” to “Palestine.”

Here is the schedule of coming protests:

On March 30, “Land Day”, hundreds of thousands Palestinians will take to the streets and to the fence to demonstrate.

On May 15, “Nakba Day”, the events of “Land Day” will be repeated.

On June 8, “Al Quds (Jerusalem) Day”, the events of “Land Day” and “Nakba Day” will be repeated.

To show how committed Hamas is to the “March of Return,” it is spending millions of dollars to set up a giant tent city on the border. All of the Palestinian factions in Gaza are acting in support of Hamas and are calling on their followers to go and live at the fence.

To state the obvious, Israel is not going to gun down unarmed Palestinians trying to breach the fence, and Israel does not have the manpower to stop hundreds or even tens of thousands from breaching the fence.

So once again, your humble servant says that he has no idea what is going to happen–except that it is virtually certain to be a disaster of the first order.
