Special Notice:

June 5, 1967-June 10, 1967: Six days that changed history

Today Israel is marking our miraculous victory in the Six-Day War. Lest we forget, it was a war that liberated the Old City of Jerusalem which had been ethnically cleansed of all Jews by the Jordanians and Palestinians, and a war that recovered our ancestral homeland in Judea and Samaria. It was a war that dramatically restructured the Middle East.

Israelstreet salutes the brave fighters of the IDF that swept us to victory during those six momentous days.

Quote of the day:

“We are embarking on a planting operation with children from the Gaza perimeter: Hamas is burning – we are planting. We will prove that we live here out of strength and growth.”

Danny Atar, Chairman of the Jewish National Fund (JNF)

Atar also said today that the JNF will be suing Hamas in every possible international court for the “severe environmental damage” that has been caused by the missiles, mortars, and firebombs launched into southern Israel.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

This picture from several hours ago shows a huge fire advancing toward Sapir College in Sderot.

*Southern Israel is literally on fire with nine fires currently burning out of control. In addition to the above fire, others are raging near the Besor Stream, Kissufim, Be’eri, Nir Am, and in many agricultural fields around Gaza.

The military and the government remain at a complete loss as to how to stop the continuing Molotov kite arson.

*The IDF uncovered a large stash of hand grenades, Molotovs, and IEDs near the Karni Crossing in northern Gaza.

In Judea and Samaria:

*Beit Ummar, Karmei Tzur, throughout Gush Etzion, Ofra, Shechem, Hevron, Karmela, Road 443, Tekoa, and Hizma: these are but 10 of the more than 30 locations at which Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis traveling in cars and buses with “rocks” and Molotovs.

*Palestinian terrorists lobbed IEDs at a IDF observation post just outside of Beit Ummar.

The Swedish foreign minister attacks again . . .

Swedish FM Margaret Wolstrom, who has made a career out of attacking Israel, visited the PLO offices in Stockholm yesterday.

Her message to the Palestinians: “We will continue to fight with you and for you. You know how much we care about Palestine, you know we will continue to be with you and your path.”

She could have been speaking for most of the European Union.

Speaking of Wallstrom and the EU’s Palestinian friends . . .

It was revealed by Israel’s Shin Bet Security Service today that a Palestinian terror cell directed by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (based in Syria) has been disrupted.

Led by a Palestinian resident of Shuafat, the goals of the cell were to assassinate PM Netanyahu and Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat. In addition, the cell was planning terror attacks on the new American Embassy in Jerusalem and a visiting delegation of Canadians.

About the money that the Europeans and the Obama Administration gave to Iran . . .

Various numbers have been bandied about concerning how much money Iran received in the infamous Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Agreement. The numbers range from $56 to $150 billion dollars.

Of course, we all know that Iran used the money to further develop its nuclear program, develop ballistic missiles to carry nuclear warheads, and spread terrorism around the globe.

According to a report yesterday, $30 billion of the money has been spent by Iran in Syria where Iran has established 20 bases. In addition to these 20, it has funded 15 more Hezbollah bases on the Syrian-Lebanese border.

Speaking of Iran . . .

Iran informed the United Nations and IAEA today that it is increasing the number of its centrifuges processing uranium and is adding a new generation of centrifuges.

According to Iran, these moves are permitted by the Appeasement Agreement and have nothing to do with the U.S. pulling out of it.

Interestingly, the Iranian announcement came as yet another European company, Peugeot, announced that it was abandoning its operations in Iran in order to not run afoul of U.S. sanctions.

Two Exciting Construction Projects on the Israeli Horizon!

A municipal planning committee has approved the building of what will become the tallest building in Israel–a 100 story office building and residential complex that will be built at the point where Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, and Givatayim all come together.

When completed in three years, the new building will surpass the Azrieli Sarona Tower (238 m in height), as Israel’s tallest building. Actually, the building with the most stories in Israel is the Moshe Aviv Tower in Ramat Gan with 68 stories.

But wait, there is more coming on the construction scene.

Another major construction project was approved yesterday by the National Infrastructure Committee: the largest solar site in Israel–and, in fact, one of the largest solar sites in the world.

To be built on 6000 dunams outside of Dimona, the solar field will produce 500 megawatts of energy or about 20% of what Israel promised it would produce by alternative energy by 2025 in the Paris Climate Accords.

As we all know, Israel is already a world leader in solar power with virtually every apartment and house in the country partially heated by solar panels. Two of the largest solar fields in the country are the Zmorot Solar Park which consists of 207,000 solar panels that produce 50 megawatts of energy and the Ketura Sun Field that covers 20 acres near Kibbutz Ketura.

Construction at Dimona is expected to begin in 2020.

Everywhere you look in Israel, the country’s infrastructure continues to expand, and the benefits of our surging economy can be seen.
