Quotes About The Mini War

“I am sick of shame! We removed the Star of David and the blue stripes from our flag and waved the white flag of surrender. It cannot be that a country like ours is incapable of defeating an enemy like Hamas.”

Brig. General (Reserves) Tzvika Fogel

“Last night Hamas announced a ceasefire. Israeli officials categorically denied this. We have awakened to the reality that Yahya Sinwar [the head of Hamas in Gaza] is more reliable than Benjamin Netanyahu.”

Avishai Greenzig

“Moshav Nativ Ha’asara looks like a ghost town this morning . ..  Most of the families have fled leaving only farmers . . . We have canceled activities and events that were scheduled this summer, and closed the nursery school, parks, and the swimming pool.”

The News On the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

The IDF issued an absurd assessment last night telling Israeli community residents that they can now “fully return to their normal routine.”

In a blackly humorous way, the IDF is correct–we have returned to the normal routine.

An incendiary balloon in the sky over Sderot yesterday.

We are back to where we were 72 hours ago with dozens of incendiary kites and balloons being launched out of Gaza. Firefighters fought 9 fires yesterday started by these devices yesterday.

This comes after “senior” Israeli officials told Hamas that we will no longer tolerate such attacks.

What was the IDF response to these incendiary attacks?

Absolutely nothing.

By the way, farmers in the Gaza border communities were informed that their water quota for the season has been used up–because of the water that has been taken to fight fires.

The situation has also returned to normal along the border fence. Yesterday, around 10,000 rioters and terrorists gathered in five places along the fence and threw grenades, Molotovs, and “rocks” at our soldiers.

What was the IDF response to these attacks?

Absolutely nothing.

By the way, it was announced yesterday that the IDF has reduced the number of our soldiers on the border because of the fear of Hamas snipers and the possible use of anti-tank missiles by Hamas terrorists.

But guess what Israel is doing . . . according to Israeli diplomatic sources we are continuing negotiations with Hamas that would result in more open border crossings, greater fishing ranges, and, and, and . . .

It is simply unbelievable.

In Judea and Samaria:

Lest you think that the Gaza border is the only place where Palestinian terrorists are attacking Israelis . . .

Deir Abu Mashal, Qalandiya, the Zif Junction, Sinjil, the Hevron Hills, Hizma, Azzun, Naja’a, Tekoa, Neve Tzuf, Zuma, the A-Zawiya Bridge, Givat Ha’avot, Ofra, Al-Khader, El Aruv, Karmei Tzur, and tens of other places were locations where Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs.

In the above attacks, 3 Border Policemen and one young woman were wounded.

Lying Like A Cheap Rug:

A Pathetic Postscript To The Mini-War We Just Had

“The Arabs learned from Israel how to fight, and Israel learned from the Arabs how to lie.”

Reputed to have been spoken by Moshe Dayan after the Yom Kippur War in 1973

As you have all heard by now, the Netanyahu government and the IDF are attempting to spin the latest conflagration as if it was some great Israeli victory. Obviously, this is a lie.

A lie that can easily be seen by merely looking at a map which shows the locations where red alert sirens blared and missiles and mortars exploded:

Where the missiles and mortars exploded.

Where the missiles and mortars exploded.

As we have already noted, there were 256 missiles and mortars launched into southern Israeli communities on the border. There were at least 187 red alert sirens, but also there were numerous missiles and mortars that struck with no red alert siren beforehand.

The hardest hit communities were Sderot, Nahal Oz, and Alumim.

And every time one of those 187 red alert sirens blared, how many people in the Gaza communities had to run to their bomb shelters (if they were not living in them already)?

471,000.

How can anyone in our government or in the IDF look at anyone with a straight face and claim that somehow it is a victory for 256 enemy missiles and mortars to explode “on” 471,000 Israelis?

You’d be surprised. It is no problem whatsoever for Benjamin Netanyahu, Avigdor Lieberman, and Gadi Eizenkot to lie like a cheap rug.
