Picture of the Day:

The always inspiring sight of our Israeli flag flying high over Masada. I took this picture yesterday while on a trip to the area.

Quote of the Day:

“This is the land of our forefathers and mothers. It is steeped in Jewish history and sites, and here, as long and as deeply as you may dig, you will not find a single Palestinian coin.”

Israel Culture Minister Miri Regev speaking at Hevron yesterday.

Your humble servant was thinking about this while at Masada yesterday. I was struck by a coin which was found at the site and is now in the small Masada Museum. Minted in the second or third year of the Jewish Revolt against Rome (either in 67 CE or 68 CE.), the coin reads simply: Herut Zion (The Freedom of Zion).

This coin was minted more than 1000 years after Jews had made Jerusalem the capital of our country and more than 600 years before the first Arab ever stepped foot here.

Yet, isn’t it amazing that here we sit more than 2000 years later, and we Israelis still have to fight for our liberty against a sea of forces that would try to take it away?

A sea of forces ranging from the demented members of the United Nations to the appeasing voices of the European Union to the bellicose war chant emanating from Iran.

However, we stand firm in the words of the oath of service taken by Israeli soldiers at Masada: “Masada will never fall again!” We will never allow our freedom to be taken again.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza Border:

There were numerous terror incidents.  In one, an IDF patrol intercepted a Palestinian terror squad east of Gaza City. Two of the terrorists were shot and wounded. In another, a terrorist breached the fence and infiltrated into Israel before being captured by IDF troops.

At the same time, terrorists in Gaza launched dozens more incendiary kites and balloons into southern Israel. Four fires were set near Kibbutz Erez; another fire broke out in the Eshkol region, and yet another fire raged beside Nahal Oz.

While all of this terrorism was taking place, our pathetic excuse for a “Defense” Minister, Avigdor Lieberman was making an announcement.

Lieberman declared that because there had been “three days of absolute quiet on the Gaza border” that the Kerem Shalom Crossing would be fully opened today and that Palestinian fishermen in Gaza would have their fishing area doubled.

Three days of absolute quiet.

Just plain unbelievable.

More than this, Israel continues to eagerly run toward an agreement with Hamas and Islamic Jihad with only Naftali Bennett and his Beit Yehudi Party standing in the way. As Bennett said yesterday:

“After 130 days of fires and missiles, we must not reward the terrorists without returning our dead soldiers’ body parts and our citizens who are being held. The terrorists will learn that terror pays and Israel’s deterrent power will be harmed.”

Even though Bennett is correct, the fact is that the terrorists have already learned these lessons.

In Judea and Samaria:

More than 30 terror incidents were reported yesterday to rotter, hakolhayehudi, Rescue Judea and Samaria, and Rescue 443.

A few of the locations where Israelis were attacked were: Azzun, Efrat,  Qalilya, Rachel’s Tomb, Nabi Salah, Umm Safa, Kafriyat, Al Khader, Luban a-Sharqiya, Adam, Karnei Shomron, the Maayan Spring near Neve Tzuf, Psagot, on the Gush Etzion Road near Hevron, Elon Moreh, Givat Assaf, Herodion, Tekoa, Halhul, and Na’aleh.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The Peter Beinart Fiasco: Kick The Bum Out!

The always abominable Peter Beinart.

The always abominable Peter Beinart.

If there were ever a person who should be denied entry into Israel it is Peter Beinart.

Beinart has made a living trashing Israel in what ever pseudo-“journalist” capacity he has been involved with whether it be The New Republic, The New York Times, CNN, The Atlantic, Time, Haaretz, and on and on ad nauseum. He is a darling of J Street and any other organization that will give him money to delegitimize this country.

He has been to Israel numerous times and worked tirelessly here to undermine the government. Your humble servant wrote extensively about his participation in an event in Hevron back in 2016–which you can read here.

All of which brings us to Monday evening when Beinart landed at Ben-Gurion Airport supposedly on a visit to attend the bat mitzvah of his niece. As he attempted to enter the country he was detained by representatives of Shin Bet for one hour during which time he was asked what he planned to do in Israel.

Afterwards, Beinart went viral, bitterly complaining that he was detained because of his “political beliefs”. Suddenly, we had PM Netanyahu groveling at Beinart’s feet crying that “an error” had been made and calling for an investigation. This morning, our Attorney General Mandelblit, who apparently has nothing better to do, announced that he will investigate the “incident.”

Have Netanyahu and Mandelblit lost their minds?

Of course, Beinart should have been detained–and then he should have been sent on the first plane back to the United States.

The evil that he does–and is busy doing today–is no less than the evil perpetrated everyday by BDS and all of the leftist NGOs that would bring down this country.
