Netanyahu’s “Biblical Day” of Reckoning Is Here

Quote of the Day:

“Only 1% of West Bank Palestinians are involved in violence against Israelis.”

Gen. Eran Niv, outgoing commander of IDF forces in Judea and Samaria

Of course, General Niv was issuing the above quote to tout his own accomplishments in keeping the peace in Judea and Samaria–when, as we all know, there is no peace in Judea and Samaria because of the incessant Palestinian terrorism there.

Moreover, if you stop and think about it, Niv’s declaration is extremely revealing. Even if we accept what he says as true (and it is almost certainly an egregious understatement), 1% of 2,000,000 is 20,000.

So Niv would have us believe that there are “only” 20,000 Palestinian terrorists operating in Judea and Samaria.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours in Judea and Samaria . . .

Some of those 20,000 terrorists were hard at work yesterday attacking Israeli men, women, and children with “rocks” and Molotovs at such places as Deir Abu Mash’al, the Yakir Junction, various locations near Ramallah, Karmi Tzur, Azzun, the Bypass Junction at Hevron, numerous places in Gush Etzion, and near Tapuach.

Speaking of Palestinian terrorists . . .

We now have the absurd case of arch-terrorist Samer Arbid, a senior official in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Arbid has been heavily involved in terrorism for at least the last two decades. He was imprisoned several times during the second intifada back in the early 2000s for attempting to murder Israelis.

Last month, Arbid murdered Rina Shnerb.

Arbid constructed a bomb, planted the bomb near the footpath leading to the spring at Dolev, and detonated the bomb when the Shnerb family walked by. The blast tore apart Rina’s lower torso.

In the last two weeks, using video from security cameras around the site, Israel’s security forces tracked down Arbid. The immediate concern was that he and his cell had planted other bombs throughout Judea and Samaria. The interrogation of Arbid was deservedly harsh but unfortunately not fatal. As a result, Arbid is now in a coma at Hadassah Mt. Scopus Hospital being tended to in intensive care by the very Israelis he relishes killing.

By the way, that interrogation has resulted in the arrest of numerous other PFLP terrorists in Judea and Samaria.

The last few days have seen an outpouring of statements concerning the plight of the “the poor Arbid.”

Nora Arbid, the terrorist’s wife, complained yesterday about the “violence” of his arrest, and that it occurred while her husband was “on his way to work.”

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said two days ago that “Israel bears full responsibility” for Arbid’s life.

The Joint Arab List–the same party whose endorsement Benny Gantz of the Kahol Levan Party accepted–sent a letter yesterday to Attorney General Mandelblit asserting that Arbid was “shockingly abused during the interrogation which crossed all red lines and was against the law.” The Joint List demanded Mandelblit hold the interrogators responsible.

Israel’s extreme left wing newspaper Ha’aretz has even posted articles entitled like this one:

“Terror Suspect Is No Saint. But Something Went Wrong in Israel’s Interrogation of Him”

No saint? Arabid is an unrepentant murderer. The interrogation carried out saved countless other Israeli lives. Those interrogators should be applauded, not investigated.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Netanyahu’s “Biblical Day” of Reckoning Is Here

Since the election in 2015 in which the “Left” in Israel which had gleefully expected Bougie Herzog and Tzipi Livni to win only to have their hopes crushed, PM Netanyahu and his family have been mercilessly savaged.

Led by the left-wing investigative arm of the Israeli police which leaked one allegation after another against the Netanyahus to the Israeli left-wing media which paraded them on Israeli television night after night, every conceivable charge has been leveled at the Prime Minister.

Regular readers of OneIsrael know that your humble servant is no fan of Netanyahu and in fact has never voted for him, but the way that he has been relentlessly attacked is nothing short of nauseating. Just the fact that Netanyahu is still standing is a testament to the man’s tenacity.

Throughout this entire sickening episode, Netanyahu’s mantra has consistently been: “There will be nothing because there is nothing.”

Finally this morning, Netanyahu’s lawyers will have the first of four days to disprove years of allegations in an effort to squash possible indictments before they are rendered by Attorney General Mandelblit.

It hardly seems fair. Four days to disprove four years.

In the end sometime in late October, Mandelblit almost certainly will indict Netanyahu on some charge if for no other reason to demonstrate that he is not in Netanyahu’s pocket. The left-wing forces in Israel will settle for nothing less.

It may all come down to what that indictment or indictments are for. The charges in Cases 1000 (gifts), 2000 (Yediot Ahronot), and 4000 (Bezeq) are bribery, fraud, and breach of public trust. Of these three, bribery–in terms of Israeli law–is the most serious. It could be that Netanyahu’s lawyers will argue vehemently over the next few days that the bribery charge be dropped and settle for a future trial on the lesser charges.

In any case the beginning of the day of reckoning is here at 10 am this morning. That day will be a biblical day–one that may last for years until the end of whatever trial will probably result.
