The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in Judea and Samaria . . .

Palestinian terrorists using Molotovs and “rocks” attacked a bus on the cross-Judea highway, another bus at Al-Aruv in Gush Etzion, and a school bus at Kedumim. No passengers on any of three buses were physically wounded; all three buses were badly damaged.

Palestinian terrorists using “rocks” and Molotovs attempted to kill Israeli men, women, and children traveling in cars at Givat Assaf, the Maccabim Checkpoint, Hawara, Tekoa, and at least a dozen other places.

Volleyball on the Gaza border . . .

Just to show you how bad things have become on the Gaza border, we have the story today of the Eshkol Region girls’ volleyball team.

The Eshkol Regional Girls volleyball team in action.

The Eshkol Region girls’ volleyball team in action.

This volleyball team won the Israel girls’ volleyball championship last year.

But this year, they may not be able to repeat because no other team will travel to the Eshkol Region to play them.

Why won’t they travel? Because the other teams are afraid of being hit by missiles from Gaza.

This is how bad things have become. Israelis will not travel to the Eshkol Region because our government refuses to stop the missile fire from Gaza.

In fact, the situation is even worse than that. According to a poll taken this past week, 31% of Israelis living along the Gaza border are actively thinking about moving.

5 more anti-Israel votes in the UN . . .

1. “Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People” : Adopted by a vote of 92 for – 13 against – 61 abstain.

2. “Division for Palestinian Rights of the Secretariat”: Adopted by a vote of 87 – 23 – 54.

3. “Peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine”: Adopted by a vote of 147 – 7 – 13.

4. “Special information program on the question of Palestine of the Department of Public Information of the Secretariat”: Adopted by a vote of 144 – 8 – 14.

5. “The Syrian Golan”: Adopted by a vote of 91 – 9 – 65.

The titles of all of these resolutions seem innocuous, but when you dig down, you find that they are all hideous.

For example, “Peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine” (no. 3 above) actually calls for a return to the June 4 1967 situation–in which all Jews had been ethnically cleansed from eastern Jerusalem including the Jewish Quarter.

In any case, 5 more anti-Israel resolutions passed by the clowns at the United Nations: there is no end to their malevolence.

One of those countries . . .

. . . that is constantly spewing anti-Israel venom at the United Nations and elsewhere is Malaysia.

Two days ago, Israel retaliated by not allowing Malaysian representatives to cross the Allenby Bridge from Jordan to Israel on their way to Ramallah.

It’s good to see that we still have a semblance of self-dignity.

The “election” games continue? . . .

The hot story of the moment is that there has been a mini-rebellion of sorts within Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu Party. A number of its legislators have come out and said that they would rather be in a “narrow right-wing government” than go to another election.

Whether this will affect Lieberman’s stance is unknown, but this morning, he too indicated that a right wing government might be preferable to another election.

The problem with Lieberman is that you never know whether what he says is on the level, or if he is just blowing smoke.
