Stupid Quotes of the Day:

“We cannot endanger the lives of American servicemen, diplomats, and others by provocative and disproportionate actions. We cannot afford the tensions to escalate to the point of no return.”

Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives

Where has Nancy Pelosi been while Soleimani was murdering American soldiers for the last two decades? Provocative? Disproportionate? What a joke.

“Escalation is especially dangerous, hoping that those who still believe in wisdom and rationality will step up to preserve some of the diplomatic achievements of the past, and avoid a large-scale confrontation.”

Federica Mogherini, former EU Foreign Minister

So, is it wise and rational to let a murderer continue murdering? The only thing that the pathetic Mogherini cares about is preserving the “achievements of the past” (aka the Iranian nuclear weapons appeasement deal).

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

On the Gaza border:

*If you recall, it was just a week ago that Hamas promised that there would be no more “demonstrations” at the border fence until March 2020.

So what did we have today? An estimated 5000 Hamasniks attacking our soldiers along the border fence with Molotovs, grenades, and IEDs.

*The IDF, speaking through an unnamed “senior official” revealed today that Hamas is “investing in the development of a maritime route aimed at transmitting military aid through Sinai.”

Why maritime? Because the Egyptians have virtually shut down Hamas smuggling along their border with Gaza by destroying most of the tunnels leading from Gaza into the Sinai.

By the way, the IDF has just made it easier for Hamas to smuggle in weapons by sea by expanding the laughingly called “fishing zone” to 20 miles.

*According to IDF statistics, which as we know are woefully understated, terrorists in Gaza fired 1,295 missiles into southern Israel in 2019 (the real figure is about 500 more).

Even at the lower figure, this averages out to 3.54 missiles per day.

In Judea and Samaria:

Salem, Sair, Peduel, all along Highway 60 in Judea, and Tekoa were but a few of the many places where Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The Peacock Soleimani Will Preen No More

The utterly ruthless Soleimani, always well-coiffed and always wearing his signature ring.

The utterly ruthless Soleimani, always well-coiffed and always wearing his signature ring.

What was left of Soleimani after the missile hit his vehicle:

The terrorist was blown to bits but his hand remained.

The terrorist was blown to bits but his hand with the ring remained.

Your humble servant probably doesn’t have too much to add today to what you have already heard about the killing of Iranian General and ultra-terrorist Qasem Soleimani.

Except to say the following.

It is often rightly noted that as soon as you kill one terrorist leader, another terrorist quickly pops up and takes his place. In fact, that has already happened today with Ayatollah Khamenei naming a new commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

However, Soleimani was one of those rare terrorists that it will be difficult to replace. Charismatic and brilliant, he had strutted like a peacock around the Middle East fomenting terrorism for decades with an air of invincibility.

He could often be seen out on the front lines with his troops with bombs falling all around and a smile on his face as if he could not die. Ironically, virtually all of his deputy commanders, especially those who had their photos taken with him were killed shortly after those photos were taken.

But that didn’t stop the ever preening Soleimani from going out for another round of photos with his underlings.

Soleimani’s brilliance was evident in the way he artfully constructed the noose around Israel’s neck. From Lebanon to Syria to Gaza and beyond in Yemen and Iraq, Soleimani’s overarching goal was to eliminate Israel.

In doing this, he was a man of vision albeit an extraordinarily evil vision. It is that vision and that charisma that cannot be easily if ever replaced.

The peacock will preen no more.

So what will happen now?

Obviously, the first target will be Americans all over the Middle East and even perhaps in Europe and the United States. Individuals, soldiers, institutions, and businesses are all ripe for attacks. We can expect suicide bombers whom the Iranians will get from their Afghan and Pakistani mercenaries, and missiles of the type that are used by Houtis against Saudi Arabia.

And of course there is Israel where the same sort of attacks used on Americans will be employed. Not to mention what might happen on the northern border if Hezbollah is ordered into action by their Iranian overseers or the Syrian border which is already heavily populated with Iranian proxies.

The real question is simply how far will the attack-response cycle go? Is Iran or the U.S. or Israel really ready for an all-out war?

Only time will tell.

One final note: it has just been reported that Abdulredha Shahlai, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Yemen has just been assassinated. The U.S. had placed a $15 million dollar bounty on his head.
