Massive flooding is taking place throughout Israel with parts of Haifa and Nahariya already underwater. As you can see from the above photograph, snow has blanketed the Golan.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

In Judea and Samaria:

Palestinian terrorists assaulted Israeli men, women, and children with “rocks” and Molotovs on Highway 55 near Nabi Elias, Beit Ummar, Beit Bet, Hawara, Azzun, the T-Junction in Gush Etzion, Al-Omri, Hizma, and New Giv’on to name a few places.

Along the Gaza Border:

As you undoubtedly know, last night the Iranians fired retaliatory missiles into the large Al-Assad base in Iraq where American troops are stationed. This was cause for rejoicing among Palestinians this morning with impromptu demonstrations all over the Palestinian state of Gaza:

While others in the background held posters of Soleimani:

And, of course, every time an Israeli is murdered or an American is attacked, what is given out on street corners in Gaza?

TODAY’S BLOG:

Does Israel Now Have A Laser Air Defense System?

An announcement made by Israel via Youtube (see link below) two days ago concerning a laser anti-missile system.

An announcement made by Israel via Youtube (see link below) two days ago concerning a laser anti-missile system.

Israel Defense Minister Naftali Bennett issued this statement today:

“The Israeli mind continues to lead to breakthrough innovation. The laser project will make the security system lethal, powerful, and more advanced. This is a significant element in fortifying the security of the Sate of Israel.

Alongside weapons of war that already exist add the sword of the laser against threats, north and south. We are making progress in full swing. And the clear message: Israel has great capabilities, defense and attack. Israel’s enemies are better off not testing our patience and capabilities.”

Click here to see a video that was posted by the Defense Ministry’s Directorate of Defense two days ago.

If you watched the video, you can easily see that a laser defense system would be a game changer.

A huge game changer.

Suddenly, those 150,000 Hezbollah and Iranian missiles pointed at Israeli targets would not seem so ominous. Suddenly, all the missiles fired out of Gaza would be of no consequence.

Suddenly, Israelis would be much safer.

But let’s not put the cart before the horse, and not ramp up expectations without seeing reality. Israel has been talking about a laser system for years, but nothing ever emerged.

Does Israel really have a laser system now? Bennett’s statement is vague and suggests perhaps not (We are making progress in full swing). It echoes a famous Israeli slang expression “Anakhnu be derech” (We are on the way) which Israelis use all the time to indicate they are on the way to an appointment but haven’t gotten there yet.

Let’s hope that “Anakhnu po”: We are here.
