Controversial Quote of the Day

“Now we talk about balloons and not bomb attacks with restaurants and buses exploding–those kinds of attacks are no longer happening.”

PM Netanyahu touting his accomplishments on Haifa Radio this morning

Well yes, we are talking about balloon attacks, and thankfully, not suicide bomber attacks. But let’s hope that the terrorists in Gaza, Judea, Samaria, and outside of Israel don’t look at Netanyahu’s statement as a challenge.

What’s more, as you may imagine, the residents of the South look at Netanyahu’s statement as demeaning and deceptive in the extreme. Demeaning because it belittles what the children, women, and men of the South have gone through for more than a decade now, and deceptive because “balloons” are bombs and Netanyahu does not even mention the 11,380 missiles and mortars that have struck southern Israel since 2012.

We southerners feel that it is just another statement by government leadership throwing southern Israel under the bus.

The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Remember how Hamas and Islamic Jihad agreed to stop launching explosive balloons yesterday morning? The last 24 hours have seen more balloons than any other 24 hour period in recent months. Especially hard hit has been Netivot.

And what has been the Israeli response?

To increase the fishing range for Palestinian fishermen from 10 to 15 miles.

Yes, you read that correctly. The Palestinians are being rewarded for targeting southern Israelis. Again.

By the way, this sign has now appeared all along the Gaza border:

You don't need to read Hebrew to understand this sign.

You don’t need to read Hebrew to understand this sign.

Obviously it says that if you find an explosive balloon or kite, you should stay away from it, not touch it, and immediately call authorities.

The sovereignty demonstration last night . . .

Thousands gathered in Paris Square in Jerusalem last night to exhort the government to move quickly to apply sovereignty to Judea, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley:

A small portion of the crowd last night.

The Kineret continues to rise . . .

As snow melt continues to swell the Sea of Galilee, scenes which have not been seen for decades are everywhere around the lake:

Waves sweeping over the Tiberius Promenade last night for the first time in recent memory.

Despite all the water and rain, the lake remains just over 1 meter under capacity.

TODAY’S BLOG:

“Maybe it was the Belgian Air Force.”

By all accounts, the IAF carried out another extremely successful account on an Iranian base beside Damascus last night.

Not only was a weapons repository destroyed, but also Iranian Revolutionary Guard General Hajj Hussein was killed. Hussein was one of the top-ranking Iranian general in Syria by virtue of being in charge of arming and training all of the Iranian proxy forces in the country.

He also was in charge of supplying arms to the Revolutionary Guards themselves.

In addition to Hussein, 4 more Revolutionary Guards were killed in the attack along with 3 Syrian soldiers.

The best comment about the attack has to be the one from PM Netanyahu this morning when he feigned ignorance about what happened: “Maybe it was the Belgian Air Force.”
