The News on the Israeli Street

The daily Corona update . . .

8 am Sunday: There are now 17,752 confirmed cases of Corona in Israel of whom 15,050 have recovered.  21 Israelis are on ventilators. 295 Israelis have died.

We’re back to the same story of people being taken off ventilators and then dying. As you can see 4 Israelis died overnight.

An amazing demonstration in Beirut yesterday . . .

How about this photo from downtown Beirut:

An amazing protest against Hezbollah.

An amazing protest against Hezbollah.

Such a protest would not have been possible a few years ago because Hezbollah would kill anyone making such a statement.

These days, much of Lebanon is convinced that Hezbollah should be disarmed if not eliminated not only because of the budgetary problems in Lebanon but also because of growing concern that Hezbollah will bring destruction down on the country should a war break out between the U.S. and Iran or between Israel and Hezbollah.

Speaking of the neighborhood . . .

An extensive IAF air assault on the Deir Al-Zor area of Syria near midnight last night resulted in more than a dozen Iranian proxy fighters from Iraq and Afghanistan being killed and numerous vehicles and stocks of ammunition going up in flames.

TODAY’S BLOG:

What Were Israelis Singing In Tel Aviv Yesterday?

This past week we have been chronicling how the once reputable Jerusalem Post newspaper has precipitously descended into the abyss of yellow, left-wing, journalism.

Specifically, we have showed you dear readers how the newspaper is running headline after headline opposed to Israeli sovereignty over the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. In doing so this week, they have praised PLO terrorist Jibril Rajoub, the Jordanian and UAE governments, and, and, and.

This morning was no different.

This is the headline in today’s paper:

BERLIN UPS PRESSURE ON ISRAEL TO NIX ANNEXATION AMID CALLS FOR SANCTIONS:

GERMAN FM EXPECTED IN UPCOMING VISIT TO WARN PM

So today, it’s the Post’s turn to praise the Germans for opposing recognition of part of our ancestral homeland as Israel.

It is just incredible.

One wonders who the Post will praise next for opposing sovereignty?  Probably the Iranians.

By the way, the secondary headline on the front page of the newspaper today reads:

THOUSANDS PROTEST AGAINST ANNEXATION IN TEL AVIV

This article supposedly reported on the protest in Rabin Square organized by the left-wing Meretz Party and the Joint Arab List. I say “supposedly” because of the article’s errors and omissions.

In the first place, the police estimated that around 1000 protesters (not thousands) actually showed up even though some 33 organizations were supporting the protest.

Second, even though the article does mention that such signs as “Palestinian Lives Matter” appeared, what was missing was the fact that “protesters” were carrying Palestinian flags and concluded their protest by singing the Palestinian national anthem Fida’i.

Yes, you read that correctly.

They sang the Palestinian national anthem.

Protesters carrying Palestinian flags right in the heart of Tel Aviv yestersday.

“Protesters” carrying Palestinian flags right in the heart of Tel Aviv yesterday.

By the way, here are the words to Feda’i that these Israelis were singing in Tel Aviv:

Warrior, warrior, warrior,
Oh my land, the land of the ancestors
Warrior, warrior, warrior,
Oh my people, people of eternity

With my determination, my fire and the volcano of my vendetta
With the longing in my blood for my land and my home
I have climbed the mountains and fought the wars
I have conquered the impossible, and crossed the frontiers

With the resolve of the winds and the fire of the weapons
And the determination of my nation in the land of struggle
Palestine is my home, and the path of my triumphal
(Palestine is my home, Palestine is my fire,)
Palestine is my vendetta and the land of withstanding

By the oath under the shade of the flag
By my land and nation, and the fire of pain
I will live as a warrior, I will remain a warrior,
I will die as a warrior – until my country returns

This is the Israeli “left” these days in this country–giving whole-throated support to those who are trying to destroy us.
