Photo of the Day

A sight not often seen.

A sight not often seen.

Actually, the photo above is from 8 days ago, shortly after the war with Palestinian Gaza began. Given the fact that the ultra-orthodox are often reviled for being anti-Israeli and anti-Zionist, this photo stands out as an example of how most of the Israeli population (except for the far left and many Israeli-Arabs) were united.

The News on the Israeli Street

More about the number of missiles fired by the terrorists in Gaza during this last war: as you may not know, more missiles, 5100, were fired in 11 days than were fired in any previous war with Gaza.

Even during the 51 day conflict in 2014 only 4500 were launched–and in 2008, 3,716 were fired.

This past war which has already drifted out of the Israeli news was one of the most intense in Israel’s history. The children and adults who lived through it will live with it forever.

Jews on the Temple Mount, finally . . .

You may recall that one of the demands of Hamas was that Jews would no longer be able to ascend the Mount.

Fortunately, that has not been agreed to by the government. Today, for the first time in 19 days, Jews once again were able to visit the site of the holiest place in Judaism.

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Kfar Jaba. Luban A-Sharqiya, the Halhul Bridge, Beit Anun, Road 55 near Nabi Elias, Beit Omer, Road 5 near the Peduel Junction, between Tapuach and Ariel, Hermesh, Dotan, Beit Omer: these were but a few of the dozens of locations where Palestinians attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs.,

Eviator: 3 IDF soldiers were wounded during a large scale Palestinian attack..

Israel’s Upcoming Presidential Election: OneIsrael Strongly Supports Miriam Peretz!

Almost overlooked during war is the fact that on June 2 the Knesset will choose the next president of Israel. There are only two candidates: Miriam Peretz, and long-time leftist politician Isaac (Bougie) Herzog.

The person chosen will serve a single 7-year term.

Current polls show that Peretz is favored by a majority of the public; however, Herzog has many friends in the Knesset.

Miriam Peretz, one of two candidates for president of Israel.

In case you are unfamiliar with the 67-year-old Peretz, she was born in Casablanca to a Sephardic Jewish family. In 1963, her family moved to Israel. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in literature and history, married and had two sons: Uriel and Eliraz. Later she and her family moved to Givat Ze’ev northwest of Jerusalem where she became a teacher, and she and her husband had 4 more children (2 sons and 2 daughters).

In 1998, her eldest son Uriel was killed in combat in southern Lebanon; in 2010, her second son Eliraz was killed in combat in Gaza.

Shortly thereafter she became an author and public speaker–lecturing on the subjects of Zionism and grief. In 2018, she received the Israel Prize for lifetime achievement–the highest cultural honor in Israel.

We at OneIsrael strongly want Peretz to be Israel’s next president. She would bring a badly-needed fresh, Zionist perspective to our government.
