The Imbecilic Quote of the Day

Actually, this quote which was revealed yesterday comes from 8 years ago when then U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with then PM Netanyahu. Kerry told Netanyahu:

“You will learn from our conduct with the Afghan Army in Afghanistan. You can train the Palestinians to guard Judea, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley.”

Of course, we all know what a fool Kerry was and is, but this remark again shows the depth of his stupidity. Fortunately, Netanyahu resisted Kerry’s idea (Kerry even wanted to fly him to Afghanistan to see how the U.S. was building the Afghan Army). Netanyahu also resisted the idea that U.S. forces could be stationed here to monitor security.

The News on the Israeli Street

The daily Corona update . . .

7,832 more Israelis were confirmed yesterday as having Corona bringing to 59,278 active cases in the country.

The positive test rate was 5.6% yesterday.

959,129 Israelis have tested positive since the pandemic began last year.

578 Israelis are in serious condition with another 104 in critical condition on ventilators.

6,708 Israelis have died of Covid-19 an increase of 14 since yesterday.

New Corona restrictions go into effect at midnight tonight. They basically consist of mandating that everyone wear a mask everywhere, and limiting the occupancy of stores to 1 person per 7 meters (how will this be enforced?

Other bizarre restrictions which no one will be able to follow or enforce:

*At private “events” or in homes, up to 100 people can gather in an open space but only 50 in a closed space.

*At large public events, where there are no marked seats, up to 1000 people can gather in a closed space and 5000 in an open space.

*At celebration halls (for weddings, bar mitzvahs, etc), up to 500 can attend in an open space, and 400 inside.

Reading the above restrictions should give you an idea why most people are thoroughly confused and why most people have become indifferent to pronouncements by the Health Ministry.

Bennett unfortunately following Netanyahu’s playbook . . .

How many times did we see this pattern during the Netanyahu years?

Netanyahu would announce that he supported new construction in Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. Then the Yesha Planning Council would include new residences on its agenda for construction. Next Netanyahu would indefinitely freeze the planning process. Finally, no new apartments would be built.

In the past week, PM Bennett apparently signed off on some 3400 new apartments for Jewish community members. Then the number was reduced to 2223 which was supposedly going to be put on the Yesha Planning Council’s agenda for construction tomorrow. However this morning brings news that Bennett has indefinitely frozen the planning process. In the end, no new apartments will be built.

Iran barrels toward nuclear weapons . . .

According to the IAEA, Iran has added another advanced centrifuge cluster which will boost its uranium enrichment level to 60%.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The Hollow Man Speaks Again (A Follow-up To Yesterday’s Blog)

As we pointed out yesterday, PM Bennett seems to be completely out of his depth and has reached a point where he is unable to respond to terrorism coming from the north (Hezbollah) and south (Hamas and Islamic Jihad).

All he is able to muster are empty threats about what will happen if Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad do this or that.

Yesterday Bennett sat in on an IDF assessment of the situation on the Gaza Border. Others in attendance were “Defense Minister” Benny Gantz, IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, Chief of Staff to National Security Dr. Eyal Hulta, Commander of the Southern Command Eliezer Toledano, Commander of the Gaza Division Nimrod Aloni, and other senior officials.

Afterwards, Bennett had these laughable words to say to the media:

“The purpose of the visit here was to see that the IDF, the Southern Command and the Gaza Division are prepared, and they are indeed properly prepared. Our mission is to provide long-term security for the residents of the south and the residents of the Gaza border.”

The same old song. Prepared to do what? Provide long-term security? What a joke.

Referring to the missile attack two days ago that he ordered the IDF not to respond to, Bennett threatened:

“We will act at a time, place and conditions that suit us, and not for anyone else. For us, the address in Gaza is Hamas.”

The same old song. In other words, we will do nothing unless Hamas and Islamic Jihad send hundreds of missiles our way.
