TODAY’S BLOG:

Saudi Arabia Sees The Handwriting On The Wall

It comes as no surprise given the Biden Administration’s headlong rush to restore the Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Agreement with Iran that Saudi Arabia is now cozying up to Tehran.

In fact, five years after cutting diplomatic ties with Iran, Saudi Arabia let it be known today that it is now preparing for the mutual reopening of embassies and consulates with Iran.

And so the dominoes began to fall.

It was not so long ago that fear of Iran seemed to be driving the Gulf countries toward Israel.

Of course that “not so long ago” was when Donald Trump was president. With him in the White House, the Gulf Countries saw strength–strength especially directed toward Tehran in the form of sanctions and military positioning.

Now those sanctions are gone; the U.S. is in full retreat across the Middle East; and countries like Saudi Arabia have been left to fend for their own.

And that “not so long ago” was when Benjamin Netanyahu was prime minister of Israel–a person whom the Gulf Arabs saw as an implacable foe of Iran.

Now Netanyahu has been replaced by the likes of Naftali Bennett, Yair Lapid, and Benny Gantz–a threesome that project nothing but indecision and amateurism at every turn and seem to be willing to embrace Biden’s overtures to Iran.

And so Riyadh has gone running to Tehran.

Which country will be next?
