The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 48 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with Molotovs and “rocks” at the Zif Junction, Tekoa, on the Gush Etzion-Jerusalem Road near the Tunnels Checkpoint, Deir Dewan, Deir Kadis on Road 446, Mt. Hevron, the Ma’ale Amos Junction, and at Luban A-Sharqiya.

Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli buses at Givat Assaf, at the Ma’ale Levona Junction, near the Lions’ Gate in the Old City, and at Negohot.

Palestinian terrorists opened fire from a moving car at the Jit Junction IDF post. The terrorists escaped into Shechem.

Palestinian terrorists attempted to run over Israeli hitchhikers at the small Yitzhar Junction.

A PLO “security vehicle” rammed an IDF car near Uja. A soldier was wounded in the leg, and she had to be transported to a hospital.

The daily Corona update . . .

1,029 more Israelis were confirmed “yesterday” as having Covid-19. There are now 25,349 active cases in the country.

1,305,711 Israelis have contracted Corona since the pandemic began.

The positive test rate yesterday was 6.44%.

448 Israelis are in serious condition with another 189 in critical condition on ventilators.

7,920 Israelis have died–23 since yesterday.

How do you explain that the positive test rate has tripled overnight while at the same time the number confirmed yesterday plummeted? Perhaps, people who were being tested out of an abundance of caution decided not to be tested (high numbers being tested drove down the positive test rate), or  . . . ?

Similarly, the number of Israelis in serious and critical condition drops as the number of daily dead rises. This is easier to explain: people are simply being moved from one column (seriously or critically ill) to another (dead).

Vaccinations:

6,183,766 Israelis have received one dose.

5,684,182 Israelis have received two doses.

3,753,976 Israelis have received three doses.

5 Stupid Statements Yesterday

1.  “Germany is the moral compass of Europe.”

PM Naftali Bennett blathering on the podium with visiting and outgoing German chancellor Angela Merkel

Merkel and Bennett yesterday (Menahem Kahana/Pool Photo via AP)

Talk about an obsequious overstatement. Leaving aside for a moment Germany’s horrific past, we only have to look at the current situation in which it is pouring hundreds of millions of Euros into creating and developing illegal Palestinian settlements in Area C of Judea and Samaria.

Your humble servant is hard-pressed to find any moral compass in Europe.

2. “Changes in women’s menstruation cycles following vaccination are a transient phenomenon.”

Dr. Sharon Elroi Preiss, Israel Chief of Public Health, responding to women’s claims on the Health Ministry website of vaccination side effects

Preiss went on to say that “stress” can cause “menstrual symptoms”, and that the claims are illegitimate anyway because the accuracy of the comments cannot be verified because they are anonymous–and because there are more comments about the subject this year than in previous years.

What kind of gobbledygook is this? Of course there are more comments this year, and comments being anonymous do not make them illegitimate.

3. “Ben and Jerry’s and Unilever are being characterized as boycotting Israel which is not the case at all.”

Vacuum therapy system is available without prescription and has a high success rate buying cialis online with diabetic men is the vacuum constriction device. Rainshow CQ-1000-MS shower filter is fitted with Massing showerhead and it has the capacity to last till 15000-20000 gallons of water. 90% of chlorine gets removed if tadalafil uk you use this shower filter and its installation is super easy. The goal of Juicehunters.com is to provide the online prescriptions for cialis bodybuiding and performance enhancing community top of the line service with products and reliability that you can trust. It may something weird about the medication that they need without having to go online and log in to their website, fill free levitra samples out a form, and in a reasonably short time their purchases will be delivered straight to their doorstep.
Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield in an utterly repugnant interview on AxiosOnHBO.

Cohen begins by laughingly defending himself against the charge that he is anti-Semitic: “I’m a Jew. All my family is Jewish. My friends are Jewish.”

As if that makes any difference: we all know that some Jews are some of the worst enemies of Israel.

At the end of the interview, the interviewer astutely questions why Ben and Jerry’s singled out Israel. For example, she points out “Why not stop selling ice cream in Texas because of the new abortion law or in Georgia because of more stringent voting laws?” Cohen laughingly says says that if they stopped selling ice cream everywhere there is a social problem, they would not be able to sell ice cream anywhere.

Then Jerry Greenfield uses the standard fraud to double down on what he thinks makes Israel worthy of a double standard:  “What Israel is doing is considered illegal under international law.”

What’s the bottom line here? Ben and Jerry are happy as larks that Ben & Jerry’s is boycotting Israel. Don’t buy their ice cream.

4. “I shredded complaints as an IDF general.”

Intelligence Minister Elazar Stern commenting yesterday (as reported by the Jerusalem Post) that he shredded “anonymous complaints submitted against officers when headed the IDF Manpower Directorate”. Stern is now being promoted by our Concession Government as a candidate for head of the Jewish Agency.

The obvious conclusion here is that women who anonymously complained about inappropriate sexual advances by an officer had their complaints summarily trashed.

By yesterday afternoon, Stern was restating his statement to the tune that he never shredded a complaint about sexual misconduct.

However, a female soldier has already come forward today to say that Stern threatened her after a meeting which she had with an officer she alleges sexually harassed her for two years, her personal commander, and Stern. She says that Stern told her:

“‘If you talk about what was here in the room, if you mention what was here in the room or what this officer tried to do, your days in the army will be black and bitter. You will have the worst time in the world. You will not stay in the army.”

Of  course, Stern has now denied this latest claim.

5. “The 20 calmest cities in the world based on such factors as air pollution, noise, overcrowding, happiness, and traffic jams are . . . “

  1. Bergen Norway
  2. Perth Australia
  3. Reykjavik Iceland
  4. Helsinki Finland
  5. Wellington New Zealand
  6. Zurich Switzerland
  7. Brisbane Australia
  8. Melbourne Australia
  9. Stockholm Sweden
  10. Auckland New Zealand
  11. Oslo Norway
  12. Sydney Australia
  13. Copenhagen Denmark
  14. Tel Aviv Israel
  15. Christchurch New Zealand
  16. Toronto Canada
  17. San Jose Costa Rica
  18. Dallas Texas
  19. Houston Texas
  20. Washington DC

Well, your humble servant has visited 15 of these cities and is forced to wonder how some of these cities made the list which was produced by IcelandAir.

Tel Aviv is calm? Massive traffic jams, smog, overcrowding on a grand scale . . . and Dallas Texas and Washington DC with their high murder rates?

And some of the cities are not so much calm as quietly “dead” (Bergen, Zurich, Oslo).

On the other hand, some of the friendliest and calmest cities in my humble opinion are Helsinki, Sydney, and Reykjavik (all of which can be quite rowdy).

Obviously, whoever made the list is in love with Australia and New Zealand which are wonderful countries to visit (maybe IcelandAir is just opening new routes to down under?), but I digress.

And so it goes here in Israel on a sunny Monday morning.
