The Idiotic Quotation of the Day

“Aliens will invade Ukraine before Putin invades there.”

If these photos don’t make you remember photos of Jews being rounded up during the Holocaust, they should. Fortunately, the Jews above are not being taken to be murdered.

TODAY’S BLOG

Where Does Israel Stand On Ukraine?

“The first line of aid to Ukraine should be a civilian factor. Every effort should be made not to involve the IDF due to strategic considerations with Russia. The IDF should only be involved in Ukraine if there is no other choice.”

Benny Gantz, Israel “Defense” Minister

Gantz’s words yesterday underline the position of our Israeli government which is not to condemn Russia because of the strategic relationship between Israel and Russia in regard to Syria where Russia has turned a virtual blind eye to continuous Israeli attacks on Iranian/Hezbollah positions.

In fact, Russia implicitly thanked Israel yesterday for only mildly criticizing the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to Israel’s Foreign Ministry, Israel received “moderate messages from the Russians that they think there were countries that condemned them much more harshly than Israel.”

After this implicit thank you came a statement from the Israel Foreign Ministry which again mildly criticized the Russian invasion. This led to the Israel Ambassador being called on the carpet in Moscow today by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

All of this comes amidst unconfirmed reports this morning that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a moment of desperation has asked Israeli PM Bennett to mediate between Ukraine and Russia.

As we all know, such a move would be absurd. PM Bennett is no more equipped to mediate between the two countries than your average elementary school student. However, considering the egomaniac that Bennett is, your humble servant would not be surprised if Bennett jumped into the fray–much to the detriment of Israel.

So where does Israel stand on Ukraine?

Apparently, Bennett, Lapid, and Gantz are trying to walk a tightrope of criticizing Russia–but not to the point of angering Putin.
