The News on the Israeli Street

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Another Israeli-Arab murdered by Palestinians.

This time the victim was Ahmed Salameh who was gunned down by a Palestinian hit squad just outside of his home in Jaljuliya, an Israel-Arab town beside Kfar Saba.

Why was Salameh murdered?

Known as “Ahmad the Bedouin,” he had long been on the Palestinian hit list because he was accused of selling land to Jews.

Think about this piece of news again: An Israeli citizen. Selling land to Jews. A Palestinian hit squad operating in Israel.

If all of this sounds familiar, it should.

At this moment another Arab, this time a self-identified “Palestinian-Arab” from Jerusalem–who also happens to hold American citizenship–is being held (and undoubtedly tortured) somewhere in the PLO prison archipelago. Two months ago, Issam Akel was grabbed by another Palestinian squad operating in Israel because he too was accused of facilitating Arab land sales to Jews.

Despite repeated demands from the Israeli and American governments, Akel’s whereabouts remain unknown, and the PLO refuses to release him.

What happened to Salameh and what is happening to Akel is nothing new. Israeli left-wing organizations have even abetted the PLO in ferreting out any Arab who would sell land to an Israeli (read: “Jew”). Five months ago, the Jerusalem District Attorney indicted Ta’ayush activist Ezra Nawi on charges he turned over Palestinians in the South Hevron Hills to the PLO for selling land to Jews.

The world’s largest anti-Semitism survey . . .

. . . has just  been completed in Europe by the European Agency for Fundamental Rights.

The findings should not surprise anyone. “Jews have too much influence and power” and “Jews exploit the Holocaust for their own needs” were standard comments of people surveyed.

In light of comments like these, 38% of all European Jews are actively considering emigrating from Europe.

*89% of European Jews say anti-Semitism throughout the EU has increased significantly over the last five years.

*85% of European Jews believe that anti-Semitism is the biggest problem they face today.

*Approximately 30% of the more than 16,000 European Jews surveyed have personally experienced anti-Semitic attacks; however 80% of those attacked did not report the attacks to the police.

*33% of Jewish respondents say that they do not attend Jewish events or go to Jewish institutions anymore because of security concerns.

Oh, and there was one other statement made by those who think that Jews have too much influence and crassly use the Holocaust. That comment was:

“Israel behaves toward the Palestinians as the Nazis treated the Jews.”

Sure thing. Concentration camps, mass gassing, crematoria everywhere–Israel behaves like Nazis did toward Jews.  It is simply unbelievable how this canard has become pervasive–unless you consider that it plays into the anti-Semitic view of the universe.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Three Cheers for President Trump and Nikki Haley!!!

As we reported here on israelstreet several days ago, the recent vote on Hamas in the United Nations should really be looked at as a victory. The fact that the vote of 87-57 in favor of identifying Hamas as a terror organization did not garner a two/thirds majority does not detract from the amazing achievement of U.S. President Donald Trump and outgoing U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

Can anyone seriously believe that such a vote would have been possible during  the presidency of Barack Obama or even that of George Bush, Bill Clinton, or the elder Bush?

Frankly, the vote was a direct result of the world knowing that President Trump will do what he says. When countries vote against the United States in the United Nations, Trump takes action.

That was the subject of comments made by Nikki Haley at a hanukkiah lighting ceremony hosted by Israeli UN Ambassor Danon yesterday.

Here’s what Haley had to say after she lit the candles:

“87 countries said Hamas was a problem. The tide has changed. It’s a new day at the U.N . . . And the President called, and he said Nikki what happened? And I told him, and he goes: “who do we need to get upset at? who do you want me to yell at? [Whose] money [do we] take away?”

Three cheers for President Trump who has provided Israel with unqualified support in the United Nations, and for Nikki Haley who implemented that policy.

You can watch the short ceremony and Ambassador Haley’s comments here.
