Obscene Quote of the Day

“For years, we have exaggerated the “terrible” threat in the South when it comes to balloons and kites and even Qassams . . . [These] do not pose strategic threats to the State of Israel.”

Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert

It is obscene for Olmert to presume to render such a judgement when his residence is not subject to continual missile and explosive balloon attacks.

Idiotic Announcement of the Day

“At the conclusion of security consultations, it was decided to reduce fishing space off Gaza from 15 to 10 nautical miles . . . This follows continued rocket fire and firebombs from Gaza to the territory of the State of Israel. The decision was made in light of repeated terrorist acts against Israeli citizens in recent weeks, which violate Israeli sovereignty. Hamas is responsible for everything that is done in and out of Gaza towards Israel, and it will have consequences for the violence that is being launched against Israeli citizens.”

A statement issued by IDF COGAT today

This is the idiotic situation to which we have arrived. Security consultations following rocket fire and firebombs from terrorists in Gaza results in a reduction of the fishing zone from 15 to 10 nautical miles.

Unbelievable.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Netanyahu Backtracks On Sovereignty Again

Can you believe anything that PM Netanyahu says? It was barely a week ago that he was standing at the White House crowing about Israeli sovereignty being extended over the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria as well as over the Jordan Valley.

In fact, he had been promising an immediate vote about the Jordan Valley even before that–and had even included Ma’aleh Adumim as another place where sovereignty would be established.

Contrast all of that with what Netanyahu said about sovereignty last night at a conference in Beit Shemesh:

“If we win, when we win, we will continue to make history. When we win, we will apply Israeli law to all the Jewish communities in the Jordan Valley and Judea and Samaria.”

So now we have Netanyahu tying sovereignty to Likud winning in the March 2 electiona win that is highly unlikely to happen.

The truth is that what seemed so close at the White House press conference, now seems ever farther away. The window to sovereignty that seemed wide open is now closing and may never open wide again.
